Revolutionary Road Ending

I see that a lot of people are confused by the ending to the movie Revolutionary Road and I can understand why. People want to know what happened in the end. The ending is not very well explained so I will explain it here. There are spoilers ahead so do not read on if you don't want to know what happens!

April(Kate Winslet) and Frank(Leonardo Di Caprio) are a couple who are miserable with their suburban lifestyle and when April suggests they move to Paris, they are excited for the first time in ages. But, Frank decides not to go and April becomes pregnant with the couples third child. Well, April doesn't want to have the child so she decides to abort the child herself in some desperate act to get out of her current situation. She botches the job and she is brought to hospital where she dies of blood loss. Frank is devastated and he returns to his boring suburban life without his wife. He has died inside and that is the way the film ends.

Personally, I thought that this movie was rubbish. I would have liked to see more happen. There was nothing but talking and more talking. I found this film very depressing and just a waste of two hours. Jigsaw felt the same way. That is just our opinion. If you like long-winded meaning of life movies, then you might like this one. As for me, I hated it. Let us know what YOU think. Did you like the ending or did you think it was lame?

It's very easy to be smart when you are anonymous! This is our blog and we can say what we like about whatever we want to. If you don't like it, don't read it!

The ending was retold as a lot of people did not understand the ending. The name of the post is Revolutionary Road ending! What else did you expect? Click on the link within this post for the full review. It was a crap movie anyway and anonymous is a gutless way of giving an opinion!!!!

I stumbled onto this page because I thought "Revolutionary Road" had one of the best endings I've ever seen in a movie. Not necessarily the ending you wrote about, but the actual "ultimate scene". Where Kathy Bates's husband turns off the volume on his earpiece while she starts to revert to a sort of "self righteous, gossiping hypocrite". I could write pages upon pages on that scene alone... maybe anonymous was looking for something along those lines? This movie had such a strong and significant message, way deeper than just the death of a husband and wife (metaphorically and literally respectively). Some of the most revealing characters were those with the smallest roles! However, this movie definitely wouldn't be for everybody.

Anyway, keep up the blogging and please send me some Jameson!

P.S. Maybe I just don't understand how this blog works, but aren't Amanda and Jigsaw just characters from "Saw"... making you anonymous yourself? Either way I'll post with my name cause then you might take my comments respectfully.

Of course we respect your opinion! What we meant by anonymous was someone not leaving their blogger name.I'm glad you liked the movie but we just did not.Their comment said this was not a review which it was not meant to be.We reviewed the movie seperately. Thanks for your comment!!

I happened to enjoy the movie and the ending, but I feel that it is due to the fact that it seems to mirror my own circumstances.

I have decided to move to Salt Lake City and live with my brother (it was his idea) and start over with a clean slate in a new environment.

I currently live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

I have previously been to Salt Lake once, when I visisted my brother for a week.

They say that some people are Beach people, and some people are mountain people.

Well, I am a mountain person, that is my dream is to be in the wilderness camping, hiking, etc. than at the beach.

In Texas, there are about as many mountains as there are hockey players as you might guess, whereas Utah is a mountain paradise.

You get the picture.

Everyone here in Texas acts as if I am crazy.

I have always suspected that they think this because of their own fears, as well as their own jealousy, just as the characters did in the movie.

Of course the crazy guy in the movie is one of the actual voices of reason that exists in their world which is inhabited by a never ending sea of suburban zombies.

Why? Because in an insane world the "sane man" is actually insane. Everybody knows that.

The poor souls that seem to regret their investment in and state of captivity in the so-called "American Dream" (Two story house, 2.5 kids, great spouse, great job as a worker drone, trips to the mall yada yada etc., church every Sunday) are the ones that will allways adamently insist that you must conform and "submit" to a similar path.

Why? Rule #2: Misery Loves Company

I'm sorry but I agree with anonymous. You merely retell the events of the ending when I believe people are asking for the "meaning" behind it. There are a lot of layers to this movie and in my humble opinion, it is one of the most brilliant films in the last 20 years. If someone doesn't like it, that's totally fair. However, my response to that would be they are simply not in a place to appreciate what it's trying to say, which is pretty ironic given the whole point of the movie...

This is not a review as people seem to think, it was an explanation of the ending of the movie. If people want in depth analysis of it, then look elsewhere. I am just telling people how the movie ended, thats all. I didnt like it, but if others do, then thats fine. I am not really a fan of these types of movies and I guess this one was not for me...Thanks for commenting anyway!!!
