Best Haunted House Movies????

I love haunted house movies and I want to see which one is the best. There are some great ones out there. I know that I will not be able to include everything and if you want to, let me know your faves and let me know if I have missed any..

Let's start at the beginning, I like The Haunting(1963). It is eerie and it was very good for such an old movie. The remake in 1999 was good too and I enjoyed both movies. The House on Haunted Hill(1959) was a good movie too. The remake, not so much. Another gem of a movie is The Legend of Hell House(1973) which I really liked. It was on TV late one night a few years back and I was surprised at how good it was. Of course, I could not leave out the most famous haunted house movie ever, The Amityville Horror (1979). I love this movie and it is a real classic unlike the terrible remake with Ryan Reynolds in it!!!

Another amusing haunted house movie is Hell Night(1981) starring Linda Blair. The Changeling(1980) is a movie starring George C. Scott and the plot revolves around a haunted house too. A mix of comedy and horror, House(1986) and its sequel were a comic twist on the haunted house tale and they were very enjoyable. The Others(2001) starring Nicole Kidman was a good movie about a haunted mansion and there was a good twist at the end. I'm not sure if this movie fits into this category, but I am going to include it anyway- Poltergeist(1982) and its sequels were very good and I liked the first film the best..

The Stephen King miniseries Rose Red was a very good haunted house story and I really enjoyed it..If you haven't see it yet, watch it. It is well worth seeing.. Another Stephen King story,The Shining(1980) was set in a hotel and not a house, but I think that we can overlook that!! Thirteen Ghosts(1960) featured a haunted home too as well as its remake. So, look through these movies and see if you have any that you feel need to be included. I have probably forgotten some other great movies, so let me know...
