Devil Movie Review 156

Devil is a horror movie directed by John Erick Dowdle who also directed the movie Quarantine. It is produced and written by M.Night Shyamalan. It stars Chris Messina and Jenny O' Hara.

The movie begins with a body falling to the ground from a building. A cop, Detective Bowden(Messina) is investigating. In the same building, five people step into an elevator. It stops suddenly and they are stuck with each other. There are two women, one young and one old. There are three men- a salesman, a security guard and a dubious young guy. The two security guys, Lustig(Matt Craven) and Ramirez(Jacob Vargas) see on the cameras that they have stopped and they tell the janitor to have a look. They tell the people in the lift to hang on and that help is on the way. The janitor can't see anything wrong with it. Suddenly, the lights go out in the elevator and one of the two women is hurt. She thinks that she has been bitten and they look at each other wondering what happened.

The security guards look at the cameras and Ramirez thinks that he can see the face of the Devil on the screen. Detective Bowden is on the case as he talks to the security men. Ben(Bokeem Woodbine) is the security guard stuck in the lift and he tells them that he is just temporary on the job. The power is cut again and this time, the salesman(Geoffrey Arend) is stabbed in the neck and he dies. Ramirez is superstitious and he thinks that that it is the work of the Devil. The four remaining people in the lift wonder who killed the salesman. Bowden is trying to get in to help them. They call the fire brigade and they try to break through the wall into the lift.

The janitor is still trying to see what the problem is with the lift, but he is killed. Bowden looks through the footage of the lobby as the people came in and he sees the young guy coming in with a bag but he doesn't have it now. The lights go out once again and this time the old woman, Jane(O Hara) is hanged. Meanwhile, outside, there is a young woman who is the fiancee of the young guy in the lift. She explains that the young guy, Tony(Logan Marshall-Green) left his bag in the bathrooms as he had an interview in the building. There are only three people in the lift now. The younger girl, Sara(Bojana Novakovic) thinks that it is Tony who is killing people and she tries to get Ben to kill him. Ben gets killed when the lights go out and then there are only two. I won't give away the ending because it is worth watching if you like a good story.....

I enjoyed this movie and I thought that it was very good. I liked the premise and the story was interesting... I recommend this.... I am going to give it an 8/10.
