Rosemary's Baby(1968)

This movie is based on the novel of the same name written by Ira Levin. It is directed by Roman Polanski who also directed Frantic and The Tenant. It stars Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes. The movie focuses on a young housewife, Rosemary Woodhouse(Farrow) who is living with her husband, Guy(Cassavetes) in an apartment in New York City. The building has a reputation for having bad neighbours and strange things happening. There is an old couple living next door, Minne and Roman Castevet, who become very friendly with Guy. Rosemary tries to keep her distance from them as she doesn't like them much. Guy is an actor and he gets a good role all of a sudden. Guy and Rosemary decide to have a baby and they plan to conceive soon. One night, when they plan to try for the baby, the nosy neighbour brings them over some dessert and Rosemary eats some , but finds that it has a strange taste and throws it out. She finds that she becomes dizzy after it and passes out and has a weird dream about being raped by some monster. She becomes pregnant and she plans to attend her doctor when the weird couple suggest another doctor for her. She has a lot of problems with her pregnancy and she gets pains and craves weird stuff. The new doctor tells her that it is nothing to worry about. She meets an old friend and he is is worried by her appearance and he researches it but is mysteriously taken ill and dies before anyone else finds out. He manages to get a friend of his to deliver a book on witchcraft to Rosemary before he is dead. She reads the book and she realises that the couple next door are part of some evil cult and they want her baby. She begins to suspect that Guy is in cohorts with them too. She tries to tell her old doctor all about this, but he thinks that she is imagining it all and he gets Guy to take her home. She goes into labour and when she awakens afterwards, she is told that her baby has died after birth. She wonders if her baby is really dead and she begins to hear a baby crying in the building. She finds a door leading into her neighbour's apartment and there she finds all of the coven together. They are worshipping her baby, the son of Satan. She thinks about killing the baby but she is convinced not to by Roman and instead, she begins to hum a lullaby to the child. This movie was chilling and ahead of its time. It is creepy and well- made. I am going to give it an 8/10.

Hell's Kitchen, Season 5, Episode 10 Recap

Last week in Hell's Kitchen we saw Carol being given her marching orders much to the delight of ultra- b***h Andrea. Ben was up for elimination yet again and how he manages to stay in Hell's Kitchen is beyond me. All he ever does is yap yap yap!!!!!

This week began with the teams united as one. There are just six left, so the competition is really fierce now. The cooks had to come up with a chicken dish. Sounds easy, right? Wrong! There were mishaps with everyone and Ben ended up winning the challenge after boring everyone to death with his babbling.(SEE CLIP ABOVE)He was crowing about it and when he took Robert with him to San Francisco, Danny was p****d off big time! You couldn't blame him as his dish came second to Ben's. Earlier on, Paula and Danny were both asked who was the weakest cook on their team. Paula chose Andrea and Danny chose Ben. Ben nearly had a coronary about it and that is why he decided to bring Robert with him instead of Danny.
The losers had to take in deliveries and Giovanni was moaning about it and he was dropping things. He began to annoy Paula with his groaning. Later on, in service, Giovanni and Andrea performed terribly. Andrea didn't know what she was doing and she admitted it to a very angry Chef Ramsay. He was gobsmacked at her attitude and he threw her out of Hell's Kitchen. She returned shortly afterwards and resumed her work. Giovanni was getting angry when Chef Ramsay called him some name and he began to answer him back, which only angered Chef Ramsay. Not a good move. Then he began to let everyone down in the kitchen. You could see him sinking lower and lower. His huge mistake was when he left a roasting hot pan in a cold fridge and Robert burnt his hand on it. You knew then that it was all over for Giovanni. He was good throughout the series, but his bad night messed everything up for him and he had to go home.... Only five cooks left now.. Who will win it is anybody's guess!!!

Evilspeak(1981)

This movie is not well-known but it is quite entertaining. It is directed by Eric Weston and it stars Clint Howard and Don Stark. It deals with black mass and satanism and it was on the video nasties list for while. Thankfully, it has been restored and is available to all horror fans.Father Esteban is an evil priest who has turned to Satanism and who is cast out by the Church. He vows to get revenge and he has a legion of followers. Years later, we meet nerdy Stanley Coopersmith(Howard),who is at a military academy and who is being bullied by a gang of creeps led by Bubba(Stark). They make his life a misery and he only has one friend who tries to help him.He is assigned to work in the cellar of the academy and he meets the drunk caretaker, Sarge(R.G. Armstrong) and he has to work with him. He discovers a secret room filled with Satanic artifacts. He finds a book which contains some sort of Latin and with the help of his (old) computer, he deciphers it. It is about Esteban and his Satanic beliefs. He forgets his book and leaves it in the secretary's office. She begins to read it and tries to take off the seal on the front of it, but she fails. She takes it and pretends that she hasn't seen in when he asks her. Coopersmith is plagued by the bullies again and he wants to play football, but the rest of the team want him off. The coach tells them that they will have to arrange something to get him off the team. He realises his book is gone and tries in vain to find it. He brings his computer down to cellar and he continues on with his Satanic studies. He asks Satan to give him help in fighting the bullies but the computer tells him that he needs blood. Esteban is inside the computer(I know! Silly!) and he is telling Stanley how to set him free again.Stanley gets a puppy from the cook and he hides it in the cellar. Unfortunately, Sarge finds it and threatens to kill it so he is killed by Esteban(through the computer!!!!) Stanley discovers Esteban's tomb. The secretary brings the evil book home and she is attacked and devoured by pigs(PIGS????). The book magically disappears....The bullies find Stanley's dog in the cellar and they kill it(bad taste). This sends Stanley into a frenzy and he begins to conjure up Esteban. He finally succeeds and this is when the movie really picks up. It is just great fun when Stanley is possessed by this evil Esteban and goes floating around with a sword, chopping off heads and sending his Satanic pigs after the bullies!!!! It is funny and you really don't feel any pity for the bullies as they are dispatched in hilarious fashion!! The film ends with Stanley being put into an asylum... Good movie, laughable in parts, but never stupid. The killer pigs were a bit weird and the Satanic computer was a bit silly, but overall, very entertaining and humorous. I am giving this a 7/10.

Sometimes They Come Back(1991)

I like this movie a lot. I see that a lot of other horror fans don't feel that it is very good which surprises me. There is plenty to like about this movie. It is based on a short story by Stephen King and it is directed by Tom McLoughlin who directed the 6th sequel in the Friday the 13th series. I know that there are some sequels, but I really like the original. Our tale begins with a school teacher ,Jim Norman(Tim Matheson) who returns to his home town after thirty years away. He has some demons which he is battling with. His brother, Wayne, was killed years ago after defending Jim from a group of bullies led by Richard Lawson(Robert Rusler). But, they were in a train tunnel and the train was coming down the track. The bullies ran to their car, but they didn't have their keys. Jim had the keys to their car and he escaped and ran away, leaving the bullies to their ghastly deaths. Jim begins to teach in the local high school and he finds that the local kids are disappearing and the bullies are taking their place in his class... Jim recognizes the bullies as the same ones who killed his brother and he can't believe it. They are still dressed as they were all those years ago and they are more nasty than ever. They have a mission and they are going to carry it out. No one else seems to see the bullies and they think that Jim is having a nervous breakdown. His wife, Sally(Brooke Adams) is worried about her husband and she wonders what is happening to him. Jim is being suspected in the disappearances of the local kids and he needs to prove that these ghosts from his past are out to get him and that they are in this world, murdering anyone who gets in their way... There is a final showdown in the same train tunnel where it all began. Jim has to put himself back into the same position as he was in and he faces up to those same bullies who want to kill him this time. Will he survive or will the bullies finish the job ? The short story has a different tinge to it, but this movie is good, nonetheless. There are some genuinely creepy moments and the bullies are very eerie with their pale faces and their 1950's dress. I really enjoyed this movie and even though it has received a lot of bad reviews, I will not change my mind. It is a good film with a solid story and some great baddies! I am giving it an 8.5/10.

Inferno(1980)

This movie is the sequel to Suspiria, which I reviewed here. Inferno is written and directed by horror master Dario Argento, one of my favourite directors. The movie is the second in the Three Mothers Trilogy with the third being The Mother of Tears(2007), which I will review soon. This film was not very popular at the time, but is now recognized as a great horror movie.
Rose Elliot(Irene Miracle)is a poet living alone in New York City. She finds an old book called The Three Mothers and it is about these three evil sisters who live in Rome, Freiburg, Germany and New York City. They live in places which have been designed for them by an architect named Varelli. Rose becomes sure that one of the evil three are living in her building and she writes to her brother Mark(Leigh McCloskey) who lives in Rome to come and see her. Rose uses the book to find a hole in the cellar which is filled with water and she drops her keys into it. She has to dive into the water to reclaim her keys and she looks around at a room which is underwater. She sees a picture with the words Mater Tenebrarum on it. She grabs her keys as a corpse tries to grab her. She gets away and runs from the cellar, but she is being watched by an unknown person.Mark has Rose's letter and he doesn't get a chance to read it . He leaves it behind him in his class and a girl, Sara picks it up and reads it. She is worried by what she reads and she finds a copy of the Three Mothers book and reads about them. She is attacked by something and she runs away and stays with her neighbour that night. Unfortunately, that night, they are both killed. Mark finds them and he finds pieces of Rose's letter at the scene. Mark calls Rose and tells her that he will visit before getting cut off. Rose hangs up and she is attacked and killed by someone. Mark makes his way to New York and he talks to some of Rose's neigbours. They tell him that she has disappeared. Mark sees blood stains outside her bedroom and he faints. He is being dragged away by some figure in black when a neighbour spots him and is killed. Mark wakes up and he makes his way to another neighbours apartment. The next day, Mark investigates the dealer, Kazanian, who sold Rose the Three Mothers book. He won't tell him anything about it. He gets killed.Mark reads Rose's letter again and he sees that there is a little space beneath each floor which leads to secret rooms where he finds a man called Professor Arnold. He tells the young man that he is Varelli who wrote The Three Mothers. He attacks Mark with a needle but Mark overpowers him. He tells Mark that he is being watched. Out comes Varelli's nurse, who is Mater Tenebrarum and she transforms herself into Death. Meanwhile, the apartment building is in flames and Mark tries to escape before he becomes trapped by the fire. He manages to get out of her lair before she kills him, but she is destroyed herself as her fortress is burned down.. A complex plot makes this movie interesting and horrifying at the same time. Argento is a real genius at making these types of movies. I can't want for his next one..I am giving this a 9/10.

The Company of Wolves(1984)

This movie is a favourite of mine because it is so different to a lot of werewolf movies I have seen. It is more like a horrific fairy-tale with the Big Bad Wolf and Grandma in the form of Angela Lansbury. It is directed by Neil Jordan and based on a short story written by Angela Carter. This tale begins in modern time with a young girl called Rosaleen(Sarah Patterson) who is dreaming. Her dream shows that she lives in a forest with her parents and her sister(Georgia Slowe). Her sister gets killed by wolves and Rosaleen goes to live with her grandma(Lansbury) who makes a bright red cape for her granddaughter to wear. Grandma has some tales of warning for her young granddaughter. She warns her never to trust a man whose eyebrows meet in the middle.Rosaleen goes back to her grieving parents but she has to put up with a local boy trying to come on to her. They take a walk in the woods and they discover that the cows have all been killed by a wolf. The villagers go out and hunt the wolf and kill it. It transforms back into a human when it is dead.Rosaleen heads back to her grandma with her little basket when she meets an attractive young man(Micha Bergese). He tells her that he can race her to her grandma's house. They race and he arrives there first and eats her grandma. Then, Rosaleen arrives later and she sees what has happened. The stranger is sitting in grandma's chair and Rosaleen asks him what has happened. He tells her that her grandma just went outside, but Rosaleen sees her glasses and notices her grandma's hair burning int he fire. She tries to kill him, but she fails. She kisses him, but then she tries to kill him again. He turns into his wolf form and she sees him for what he is.The villagers turn up led by the boy who fancies Rosaleen and they find two wolves in the cottage and no grandma. One of the wolves is wearing a crucifix which was Rosaleen's and they put two and two together and see that this wolf is Rosaleen. The two wolves escape into the forest... They run from the forest into the sleeping girl's dream. Rosaleen wakes up and screams..... This movie is very unique. There is something mystical about it and it is very well shot. I found that there are so many layers to this movie that you have to watch it a few times to see things that you would have missed the first and second time.It is like a nightmare that you can't wake up from....I am going to give this one a 10/10.

Hell's Kitchen, Season 5, Episode 9 Recap.

Well, another week has passed and we visit the hottest kitchen in town once again. Last week, Lacey and LA were terminated in an exciting episode. Who is going to get the chop this week? Will Carol and Andrea finally stick each other's heads into the hot ovens? Will Ben ever shut up???

This week, there was the usual challenge. Chef Ramsay came in with a king crab and he told them that they each had to make a dish and present the best two up to him. So, the chefs got running and then they had to decide who had made the best dish. Andrea pushed her dish out to the front and so did Ben!(Watch the clip above) These two are so bossy and obnoxious that I wish they would get kicked out.Andrea's was appalling to the chef and so was Ben's. Chef Ramsay asks for Paula's and Danny's and they are both great. He chooses Danny's overall and the guys team wins, even with one member less. The guys get to go to Santa Monica with Chef Ramsay while the gals get to clean the dorms.. That evening, they are told that they have to make their own menu and choose what they want to serve. They have the usual meeting etc and the usual loudmouths take over. That night, Carol decides to make some potato dish and it turns out terrible and she falls foul of Chef Ramsay. All during the service, she keeps messing everything up and she is really letting her team down. Of course, Andrea is delighted with this and she is really hoping that Carol will be the one to get kicked out so she can take over the team herself. In the blue kitchen, Ben cannot seem to get things right. He is making errors all over the place and Chef Ramsay is not pleased with him. Robert also seems to be shuffling around the kitchen very slowly and not making much effort to get things done. One diner comes up to Chef Ramsay complaining about her food and she makes the mistake of whistling at him! She gets told off! After the service ends, the girls are told that their team won but that they really were not very good at all. Danny is told to pick one person to go home and the cooks head back up to their dorms. Danny wants to eliminate both of them as he thinks that they didn't do very well. He decides that Ben should be the one to go home which is right, I think because he didn't have a good service. Chef Ramsay calls Robert and Ben out and asks them why they should stay. Just as we think that one of them are getting fired, he picks out Carol and tells her that she is the one to go home this week as she had a meltdown over her potatoes and she just gave up. So, Andrea is over the moon that her nemesis has gone home, but I think that Andrea is going to go home soon too. Here's hoping! Till next time....

The Dark Half(1993)

This movie is adapted from the novel by Stephen King. It is directed by George A. Romero and it stars Timothy Hutton, Amy Madigan and Michael Rooker.
Thad Beaumont(Hutton) is a writer who operates under the pseudonym of George Stark. He writes violent novels about a killer called Alexis Machine and people love them, but the novels he writes under his own name don't sell. He decides to get rid of the George Stark pseudonym once and for all and try writing under his own name. He stages a 'burial' for George and he poses for pictures at his 'grave'. But, George Stark doesn't want to be buried. He rises from his 'grave' and he decides to come after everyone who he thinks are responsible for burying him. Thad begins to have nightmares and he gets a visit from the local Sheriff Pangborn(Rooker) who is investigating the death of a local man and who is suspicious of Thad. It seems that Stark has been leaving clues at the scenes of death and his fingerprints are the same as Thad's. This makes it very hard for Thad to deny any of it. He begins to black out and he begins to find notes in his own handwriting from Stark. He wonders why there is such a close link between him and Stark and he wonders why Stark seems so much like him. The Sheriff discovers that Thad had an unborn twin who was implanted into his brain. When Thad was just a child, he had an operation to remove what the doctor's thought was a tumor, but which was later discovered to be parts of his twin. This explains why Stark is so close to Thad. Is Stark real or has Thad just created him in his own mind? Stark comes after Thad and his wife Elizabeth(Madigan) and he ties her up and waits for Thad to come home. He wants Thad to begin writing the violent books under his name again. Thad comes back and he finds Stark with his wife and kids. They have a confrontation and Thad wins out over George. A good movie, maybe the book was better, but it was a good adaptation anyway. I enjoyed this movie and I am going to rate it 7.5/10.

The Birds(1963)

This is a horror classic. It is directed by Alfred Hitchcock and it stars Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor. It is based on a short story by Daphne Du Maurier. There isn't anyone who doesn't know this movie, I would say. Along with Psycho(1960), this has to be Hitchcocks most famous horror movie. The story begins with a young woman called Melanie Daniels(Hedren) who goes into a pet shop to pick up a bird for her aunt. She is a rich socialite whose father owns a newspaper. She bumps into a guy called Mitch(Taylor) and he is looking for a pair of lovebirds for his sister. It turns out that he knows her from before and she is not impressed with his behaviour as he jokes with her. She is curious about him and she decides to deliver his lovebirds to his house in Bodega Bay. She procures a boat and she sails over to his house. She leaves the birds on his doorstep with a note. As she is heading back, a bird swoops down and hurts her head. She is seen by Mitch and he helps her from her boat and he takes her back to his house. Melanie meets his mother,Lydia(Jessica Tandy) and his sister, Cathy(Veronica Cartwright). She also meets Mitch's ex-lover, Annie(Suzanne Pleshette). Melanie stays over at Mitch's house for the night and a bird flies into his front door, killing itself. More birds attack the kids at Cathy's birthday party and later at school. Melanie makes a phone call from the local diner to her dad telling him what is going on. The locals tell her about the attacks from birds which have been occurring lately. The birds begin to attack people and there is no doubt that they mean business. Everyone has to run for it as the birds start to become very aggressive.Melanie takes refuge in a phone box and she is rescued by Mitch as the birds try to get at her. The attack abates for a few minutes and Mitch and Melanie go to Annie's house to collect Cathy. They find Annie dead on the doorstep and Cathy is in tears at the window. The birds have killed Annie. The others run to Mitch's house where they take refuge from the birds. They try and board up the windows and doors. They hear something upstairs and Melanie goes to investigate. The birds have broken in through a window and they attack her until Mitch rescues her. She is patched up by Lydia and Cathy and they decide to get her to a hospital. They make it to the car and as they drive off, the news on the car radio tells of similar bird attacks in California. The movie ends with them driving away as the birds watch them go....

A real classic movie with some brilliant scenes of the birds attacking. It might be an old movie, but it is a real delight for any horror fan. I am giving this a 10/10.

Flu Bird Horror(2008)

This movie is a Sci fi Channel release. It was released last year. It is directed by Leigh Scott who is also directing the remake of the horror classic The Dunwich Horror. The story begins with two guys hunting in the woods. They are in the woods when something passes them by and they wonder what it is. It turns out to be a gigantic bird and it attacks them, killing one and biting the other one. We cut to a large guy walking blindfolded through the woods. He is calling out for his friends but they aren't there. He also gets attacked by something that bites him in the stomach. We discover that he is one of a few kids who are in the woods with a counsellor to serve time instead of going to juvenile institution. They all have attitudes and they are all equally irritating. The large guy comes out of the woods with blood spilling from his mouth and his stomach. The others have no idea what to do. Suddenly, mutant birds come swooping from the skies and they attack the youngsters who hide. They are terrified by these terrible creatures and they do not know what the hell they are. The bird attack and kill the counsellor who is in charge of them. They have to find shelter in a fort or something and they try and figure out what to do. The large guy is made into bait while they escape to somewhere else. They found a radio and they got through to a park ranger and a doctor who rescue them from the dangerous birds.Unfortunately, the birds follow all of them and try to attack them in their car which crashes and turns over. They have to lure the birds into the fort which is full of dynamite and one of them blows the whole lot up, killing the birds. That is the end of the film. This movie is very funny. It was silly, really. The birds are silly, the actors are silly, but it is good for a laugh. Watch it and I guarantee, you will have to giggle at it..I am giving it a 3/10.

Hells Kitchen, Season 5, Episode 8 Recap

This week's show was very exciting. There were firings all over the place and there was more cat-fighting between bossy b***h Andrea and annoying Carol. Were they going to have a duel with meat cleavers? Was Lacey going to get kicked out once and for all? Last week saw the end of J and this week, there is going to be some more dead weight cut loose. It was challenge time again in Hell's Kitchen and it was gals versus boys. The cooks had to taste different foods and say what they were(watch clip above). I was laughing at the way they couldn't identify foods time after time. They are supposed to be professionals, but they are obviously amateurs. Danny and Carol did well identifying the ingredients of a soup cooked by Chef Ramsay, but most of the others were crap. None of the cooks could tell the difference between tuna and beef! Hello!!!!!Get a clue!!!!I could tell the difference between TUNA and BEEF and I ain't on the show!!!!!! The girls win the challenge and get their photographs taken for a magazine while the others wait on them and prep both kitchens.

Service begins and the blue team are arguing with Lacey again. What's new? They are moaning and whining about having to prep everything etc etc. The red kitchen is buzzing, but Carol is very slow on the meat section. Lacey is terrible with the meat section in her kitchen and she cracks under the pressure. All the rest of them just look on. Chef Ramsay gives her a talking to.
Robert splits his pants and keeps going! Carol keeps messing it up in the service. Andrea isn't immune to the Chef's wrath as she messes up too. She blames Carol!!! Lacey gets thrown out of the kitchen by the Chef. Bye bye Lacey!!! Everyone will be happy now.... Maybe not!!!The gals are still arguing. Carol and Andrea can't seem to help themselves. Carol is screwing up again and L.A. gets mad with her. The men's team are doing very well without Lacey and their food is up to standard every time. They finish their service first and they are pleased with themselves. Chef Ramsay closes the red kitchen as they cannot catch up now. He praises the blue team and tells the red team to pick two nominees for the chop. It ends up being Carol and L.A. and the chef asks them who else they would nominate and they tell him Andrea. The three women step forward and L.A. ends up going home. She wasn't great for the last few weeks and I think that she deserved to go home...Until next week....Keep cooking!!!

The Office, Season 5, Episode 19 Recap.

This week's office was a good one! Last week, Michael quit as his new boss is a stickler for playing by the rules and Michael is not! He told David that he was finished at Dunder Mifflin! Could this be the end of the Office? Let's hope that it isn't...

This week, Michael returns to the office to tell them all what happened in New York with David(Watch the clip above). As usual, he takes a long time to come to the point and he tells them that he is quitting. They all act as if he should have yelled at his boss and told him what he really thought of him. They also keep asking him what he is going to do now. Michael is beginning to realise that maybe he should have had a plan before leaving!!!
He begins to let loose at the office and begins drinking!!! His immediate boss, Charles, is still at the office and he is interviewing people for Michael's job while he is still there!

Michael speaks to the interviewee and he tells Michael that it is tough trying to get a job in these harsh times. Michael is beginning to look very worried now! He sets about trying to set up his own paper company with hilarious results...... Let's hope that he changes his mind and that he is reinstated as soon as possible. It wouldn't be the same without Michael Scott!!!!!

Dead and Buried(1981)

This movie has been lost in time and it is a shame as it is entertaining and creepy. It is directed by Gary Sherman who also directed Poltergeist 3. It was on the list of 'video nasties' during the 1980's but now, it is a cult classic. It stars James Farentino and Melody Anderson.
In the town of Potter's Bluff in New England, there are murders happening. The Sheriff of the town, Dan Gillis(Farentino) tries to find out why. Strangers in the town are being killed. We find out that the victims are photographed before they are killed. The Sheriff works with the coroner and the local mortician, Mr. Dobbs(Jack Albertson) to try and solve the mystery. The murders begin to come daily and they are very gruesome. His wife,Janet(Anderson), is acting very strangely also and Dan is left puzzled. He finds that she has books on voodoo and the occult and he wonders if she is having an affair. We can see that the murders are being carried out by the townspeople, but the sheriff doesn't know that. He doesn't seem to realise that the people he see every day are the ones who are making his job so difficult. Gradually, he becomes suspicious and we see him beginning to open his eyes to the oddness of his little town and the people in it.He hits somebody with his car and he sees a severed arm stuck to his car and it is twitching as if still alive. He finds that the flesh on the arm has been dead for a month. The sheriff is shocked and he feels like he is living in the town with people he doesn't know or want to know, even his own wife. He finds out that Dobbs is the mastermind behind it all. He has discovered a way to reanimate the dead and he has used it on the people in the town. The entire town is comprised of the living dead and he has been living among them. He is sickened to hear that Dobbs has been preserving these dead people for years and he considers himself an artist. He needs more corpses for his work and that is why he sends his zombies out to kill more people. The sheer horror of what he is faced with brings Sheriff Gillis to breaking point. He can't take it in and he is horrified. In the ending, we see that he is one of the living dead himself. His wife had murdered him and he had been brought back to life by Dobbs. He sees that his hands are going to rot so Dobbs takes a look at them for him...... This is an unsual movie, but it is creepy and fun. There are plenty of twists and turns in this movie, so that you are kept guessing until the end. I will give this an 8/10.

The Keep(1983)

This movie is not well-known, but it is creepy and atmospheric. It is directed by Michael Mann, who directed Miami Vice and Manhunter. It is based on a novel by the same name written by F.Paul Wilson, who didn't exactly love the movie. It stars Jurgen Prochnow(Das Boot), Gabriel Byrne, Ian McKellan and Scott Glenn. In WW2, the Germans have a 'keep' in Romania and they unwittingly release an evil spirit called Molasar who resides deep within the keep. It is disturbed by a couple of German soldiers and it saps their life force. I read that some people were not happy with the movie as they felt that it was not loyal to the novel. I wouldn't know because I have not read the book. I liked this movie. Maybe the ending was a little rushed, but overall, it was a good creepy horror. There are some great scenes and I will give it an 8/10.
