The film begins in France in 1968. A child wanders off on her own into the woods. A figure takes her and kills her. She is buried in the snow. Someone in a black veil murdered her. Cut to Venice in 1972. A father is waiting for his daughter, Roberta. She is arriving in Venice. Her father is Franco(Lazenby) and her mother is Elizabeth(Strindberg). Franco is a sculptor. A black veiled person is watching Roberta. A man called Serafian(Adolfo Celi) sells Franco's pieces for him. He gives Roberta a present of a necklace. The mysterious black veiled person is watching. Franco meets a woman called Gabriella and he leaves Roberta outside with the other children. He has sex and forgets his daughter. She is left alone when the other kids disappear. The killer approaches her.
Franco goes looking her her. He asks the locals if they have seen her. He asks one of the kids who have her necklace. He asks the local priest, Father James(Alessandro Haber) but he doesn't know. Franco geos to the police. Roberta's body is found in the river. Franco and Elizabeth have a funeral. The Inspector is on the case. Franco blames himself. They end up talking to the father of another dead child but he isn't interested in talking about it. Franco asks around but there isn't much information. Franco finds a woman who might be able to help, but she is killed.
Franco talks to a man who points him in the direction of Serafian. The inspector talks to him. The killer is dispatching anyone who might have information. Franco wants to talk to Serafian and he looks for him. He finds him dead. The killer is after Elizabeth. She has a letter that could incriminate him. Elizabeth runs to the church to Father James. Franco realises who the killer is. Elizabeth looks at the letter and also realises who it is. The killer is Father James. Franco turns up and he fights the priest. Somehow the priest ends up on fire and he falls out of the window. The case has been solved. Father James was not a priest at all. Franco and Elizabeth head off together, glad that they have found who killed their daughter.
This film reminded me of Don't Look Now and dealt with some similar themes. This isn't as good as that movie, but it is a good film. I liked the many suspects and the twists and turns that this had. It is a decent whodunit. I enjoyed it and I give it a 6/10.
Ghosthouse is a 1988 horror movie directed by Umberto Lenzi and starring Lara Wendel and Greg Scott. The movie begins with a man in a house. He finds his cat dead. His daughter did it. He locks her in the basement. He is murdered along with his wife. Cut to twenty years later, a radio operator called Paul(Greg Scott) hears a weird call for help on the radio. His girlfriend, Martha(Lara Wendel) is there too. They hear a strange voice. There is weird music playing in the background. Paul is disturbed by it. They decide to go and find where the signal came from. It comes from an old, spooky house. Martha is scared by it. Paul wants to go inside and look around. They are caught by a guy called Jim(Martin Jay). They tell him why they are there. It was his voice on the radio, along with his sister Tina(Kate Silver) but he says that it wasn't them. Martha looks around. She sees weird things and gets frightened. Jim and Paul take her outisde to tcalm her down.
There is a camper van outside. It belongs to Jim. Tina is there and a guy called Mark and a girl, Susan. Tina sees a child with a doll on her tv. Blood is coming from the child's eyes. The camper van shakes with her inside. Jim also sees the child, who is a little girl. Tina wanders into the house. She disovers Jim dead. There is a dog inside the house too and a weird guy, who tries to attack Tina. She manages to escape. Mark chases the weirdo and he tries to take him down. He gets hurt. Paul is looking for Jim. He finds his dead body. Tina tells Martha about the little girl. Martha finds a strange doll. Its face changes. A clown attacks her. She is hysterical when Paul finds her.
The police are called. They take Jim's dead body away. A cop called Ferguson(William J. Devany) tells the group about a double murder which took place in the house twenty years earlier. A little girl called Henrietta was found in the cellar, dead. The police are looking for the caretaker guy. Everyone is going to leave. Paul is convinced that they received a telepathic message. He discovers that a man called Sam Baker had a funeral home and that he was Henrietta's father. Tina and the others are going to leave but their camper van stops working. Paul and Martha visit the funeral home. They talk to the new owner. He tells them that Sam uses to steal things from the dead bodies. He tells them that Sam stole a doll that was meant to be buried with its owner. The weird caretaker guy, Valkos, is hiding at the funeral home and he kills the owner..
Tina is the next to die in the house. Paul goes to the graveyard. Valkos shows up at the house. He tries to kill Martha. Paul talks to the man who works in the graveyard. He tells Paul that there have been killings. Martha wanders into the crypt where Henrietta is buried. She gets hit by something. Valkos ends up dead. Paul hears Martha shouting for help. He gets her out of the crypt. Mark is in the house, looking for Tina and Susan. He finds a little girl and her doll. He also finds Tina's dead body. He falls through the floor into some sort of slime. He climbs out but gets stabbed by Susan, who doesn't realise it is him. She ends up in the crypt and shees Henrietta, who is a skeleton like creature. Paul pours gasoline over it. He sets it alights and it burns. Susan is saved. The police come and take the dead bodies away. Everything is fine. Right? Wrong. Susan leaves. Martha sees the evil doll in the window of the house as they leave. Poor Paul gets run over by a bus. Happy ending!
This is a weird film. Really weird. Stuff just happens for no reason and the whole thing is very strange. I liked parts of it and there were some creepy scenes,but this is not a great film. It is watchable but the acting is bad and sometimes, it was just silly. Having said that, it was one that I had on my list for quite a while and I am glad that I got around to watching it. Despite the flaws, this is not a bad way to spend 90 minutes. It is a ghost story at heart so I would recommend it as such. I will give this one a 5/10.
What Have You Done to Solange? is a 1972 giallo movie directed by Massimo Dallamano and starring Fabio Testi, Cristina Galbo and Joachim Fuchsberger. A couple are kissing and the girl, Elizabeth(Galbo) sees a girl being killed. Her lover, Enrico(Testi) is angry but they look around and there is nothing to see. Elizabeth says that she saw a knife. Enrico doesn't believe her until he hears about the murder on the radio. He realises that she was telling the truth. Enrico goes back to the same spot for another look. He is a teacher at a school, St. Mary's college. The police are there. They show photographs of the girl. Enrico is spotted in a photograph at the crime scene. The cops ask him questions. They ask him where he was. He lies and he says that he was alone at the time. He is actually having an affair with a student. He is married. The cops find a pen at the crime scene. Enrico rents a flat and he asks his lover, Elizabeth over to see him. Someone follows her. Enrico gets a phone call but there is nobody there. Inspector Barth(Fuchsberger) comes over to see him and has the pen. Enrico's wife says that it is his pen. He confesses to being with Elizabeth.
The killer strikes again. Elizabeth has dreams about the killing. She calls Enrico as she is scared. She says the killer was wearing a priest's outfit. She tells the principal of the school . The priests there are not happy. The killer breaks into Enrico's flat drowns Elizabeth as she is there waiting for Enrico. The cops take Enrico into custody but Barth doesn't think that he is the killer. The inspector interviews the landlord. He says that he saw someone and that he had a beard. The cops let Enrico go. Barth comes into the school and he asks the students about a priest. There is a priest who comes there sometimes. One of the dead girls took confession from that priest. Enrico goes to see the boyfriend of one of the dead girls. He tells him about a girl called Solange(Camille Keaton) who went missing. Enrico asks some of the school girls about Solange.
The girls are hiding something. One of the girls gets a call to meet her boyfriend at an amusement park. The police know and they are going to be there to see what happens. Solange is there also. One of the girls talks to her. She asks the girl to come with her. The girl asks her why she disappeared. The girl disappears with Solange and she is led to the killer who murders her. The truth comes out when the cops find out that Solange was the school Principal's daughter. She was in a club with the girls from the school but she got pregnant. They forced her to have an abortion against her will. Her father confesses to the police that he murdered all of the other girls in the club in revenge for what happened. His daughter went insane after the abortion and he blamed them for what happened to Solange. He dressed as a priest and put on a beard to disguise himself. He gets a gun from his desk and he shoots himself in the head.
I enjoyed this film. I liked the mystery throughout and the reveal at the end was fun. I liked the creepy feel and there were some pretty brutal killings in this one. The cast were pretty good and the story had some twists and turns which is always entertaining. If you enjoy giallo movies, then I would recommend this one. There is a lot to enjoy and it kept me guessing until the very end. I will give this a 6/10.
A Blade In the Dark is a 1983 Italian horror movie, directed by Lamberto Bava and starring Andrea Occhipinti and Michele Soavi. Bruno(Occhipinti) is a musician who is renting a villa in which to record a soundtrack for a horror movie. He talks to the director, Sandra. He hears someone in his house. It is a neighbour called Katia. She just wants to have a look around. A friend of his called Tony(Soavi) helped him to get the villa and he calls him to see if everything is okay there. Katia is outside his villa when she hears someone in the bushes. She is murdered by an unknown person. Bruno hears a voice on his tapes. He isolates the words and they say that there is a secret about Linda. A woman called Linda lived in the house before. He looks around the place. He gets blood on his pants and he sees more inside his house. Bruno asks the caretaker, Giovanni about Linda. He doesn't know much.
Bruno's girlfriend, Julia, turns up and he tells her about Katia. He is worried because she seems to have disappeared. Tony shows up and Bruno asks him about Linda. Another neighbour called Angela shows up. She is looking for Katia, who is missing. She gets murdered too.Bruno discovers blood in his bathroom.He finds a locked door and pulls out a blood rag from underneath the door. He makes a recording speaking about the murders in case something happens to him. He tells Sandra about the killings. She thinks that the bodies must be in the house. They find the locked door has now opened and they go inside the room to look. Sandra tells Bruno about Linda. She says that Linda was obsessed with tennis balls.
Bruno is worried about Katia and Angela disappearing and he talks to Giovanni about it. Sandra's movie reels are destroyed by someone. Bruno finds them in pieces. Giovanni discovers Katia and Angela's dead bodies in the boiler. He gets attacked by the killer. Sandra calls to Bruno's villa and she sees Giovanni who is dead. She gets strangled. Julia is at the villa too and she finds Sandra dead. The killer chases her. She hides in a cupboard but the killer finds her. Bruno arrives back just in time to see Julia stabbed by the killer. The killer attacks Bruno but Bruno hits him with a brick. He realises that it is Tony, He dressed himself as a woman and lived as a woman called Linda. He killed the four women. He had problems as a child and that caused him to dress up as a woman. He killed the girls to show he wasn't scared.
This was a good movie. I enjoyed it. It was a little slow in parts, but overall, I found it a good watch. I liked the story and the ending was quite good. It was fun seeing Michele Soavi as the killer. He has directed some good movies himself. So, if you enjoy Italian horror, this will be an entertaining film for you. I do enjoy Italian horror movies a lot, so I had fun with this. I will give it a 6/10.
Absurd is a 1981 horror movie and a sequel to Antropophagus. It is directed by Joe D'Amato and stars George Eastman and Annie Belle. The movie begins with a man being chased. A priest is after him and the man gets impaled on some railings. He arrives at a woman's house with his insides dangling.He is brought to the local hospital where he is patched up. Seargeant Engleman goes to see the woman, Mrs Bennett and asks her questions about the strange man. The cops see a man on the road.He says that he is a tourist and they asks him questions. Engleman gives the man a lift. They end up at the hospital. He finds Drachmas in the weird man's pocket. He is healing really well. He awakens. The tourist guy looks at him and the man freaks out. Engleman asks the tourist what is going on. The man attacks the nurse and he escapes. Engleman finds the nurse dead and realises that the man is on the loose.
Engleman and the tourist guy, who turns out to be a priest talk to the doctor and look at x-rays of the man's brain. His name is Mikos(Eastman) and he has healing powers. He can heal his own body. The priest tells them that he was made that way after an experiment. He also went insane after it. The priest wants to kill him. The only way to do it is to kill his brain. Mikos wanders around and he kills various people in horrible ways. Engleman and the priest are going to scour the place looking for him before he kills more people. They know that they need to kill him. Mikos is walking along the road when he gets knocked down by a car. The driver of the car is Mr. Bennett, the husband of the woman who saw Mikos in the beginning. He goes home, leaving Mikos on the road.
Mr.Bennett is going out with his wife. The babysitter comes and there is a nurse from the hospital, Emily(Belle),there to look in on the Bennett's daughter, Katia who has a problem with her spine and is confined to her bed. There is a son there too. Mikos is on his way to the house and he kills the babysitter and he kills Emily by sticking her head in the oven. Before she dies, Emily sends the son out to get help. Katia tries to get out of her bed. He sees her and tries to kill her. She stabs him in the eyes. He stumbles around trying to get her. The priest finds the house and sees Mikos. Katia and Mikos struggle. She picks up an axe and she swings it at his neck again and again. The cops show up and see Katia covered in blood, holding the severed head of Mikos.
I enjoyed this movie. It was a decent horror movie with some very bloody scenes which isn't a bad thing! I don't really see how it fits as a sequel to the other film, but it doesn't really matter, I guess. The movie was a video nasty and I can see why people who don't like horror movies would object to it, but to those of us who love horror, this is an entertaining movie with a great ending. I recommend this and I will give it a 6/10.
A professor is unearthing ancient ruins near his house. He is looking in caves when he finds something evil. Zombies come to life and they eat him. A group of people arrive at the house to meet the professor. What they meet are a group of zombies who are rising up from the dead.The group consists of George, Janet(Well), Leslie(Antinori), weirdo Michael(Barzocchini) and his mother, Evelyn(Giordano), Mark, James and Nicolas. The group go inside the house to barricade themselves in. The zombies find their way into the house though and when George tries to shoot them, he gets eaten. The zombies are clever and can use weapons. The maid gets killed next. The zombies bang at the front door and pour into the house.
Janet tries to fend them off. The others come to help her and they manage to kill a few. Evelyn grabs a sword and starts chopping them. There is a very weird mother and son moment as Michael tries to touch his mother sexually and she is horrified. Leslie gets bitten and she turns into a zombie. She eats Michael. Evelyn goes mad and she kills Leslie. The professor shows up but he is not one of the zombie horde. The group is thinning out now as they are overrun by zombies. The rest of the group are outside when they spot a monastery. The door is open so they go inside. They see monks, but the monks are all zombies. A horde of monk zombies chase them! They run off and find another place. It is a workshop but the zombies are there too. Michael shows up and his mother hugs him. He eats her breast!!Even as a zombie, he is still a weirdo..The zombies are coming from everywhere and the remaining survivors get surrounded and eaten as the movie ends.
This was a fun movie. The action starts straight away and the zombies keep coming throughout the film. The weird mother and son thing was odd and that guy who played the son was creepy looking. The ending was pretty bleak but good.I thought that overall, the movie was enjoyable and I would recommend it to any fans of Italian horror or zombie movies. I will give this a 6/10.
The movie begins at a fashion house. Isabella is a model who comes to the house. There is a masked man in the bushes. He attacks her and drags her off. Another woman is attacked in the house. The attacker takes something out of the woman's purses and takes it with him. He drives away. A woman called Peggy(Mary Arden) arrives back at her house with her friend Marco. Inspector Silvester is waiting there for her. He tells her that her car was found abandoned. She tells him that she lent it to her friend.Peggy has a notebook in her purse. It is a diary. She tears pages out of it and burns them. She hears someone at the door. It is the killer. He attacks her for the diary. The cops are coming so they disturb his work. He takes Peggy off with him.
A man called Max(Mitchell) is a suspect in the killings. He manages the fashion house with his partner Cristina(Bartok).It turns out that Isabella had a diary detailing a lot of shady goings on at the fashion house.The cops think that someone killed her to stop it from getting out. Peggy gets killed as she pulls off the mask of her killer and she recognises the person. The cops arrest all of the men who work at the fashion house, but when there is another murder, they have to release everyone.
Max has the notebook that Isabella had. He meets Cristina and they talk. It turns out that they have been working together and they are lovers. He helped her to kill her husband. Isabella found out and she was blackmailing Max. She pushed him for too much money and the diary was dangerous to the lovers so Max murdered her. They need to get rid of one more girl to be safe and Cristina has to do it. She murderers another model. Someone is at the door while she is there and she panics. She goes out of the window and falls when a drainpipe breaks. Max has set her up and she finds out about it. She finds him and she shoots him dead. She falls down beside him and dies.
This is a very good movie with loads of twists and turns. It is basically a murder mystery and it is fun trying to figure out who is the killer. It is well made and very enjoyable. I found it entertaining and fun. I enjoyed the story and the ending was pretty good. All in all, this is a very decent mystery movie with elements of horror in it too. It also could fit in the slasher category. I would recommend this one and I will give it a 7/10.
The movie begins with a man in his car. He sees a black cat in the back seat and he goes into a trance. He crashes his car and dies. The cat wanders into its house, a big house owned by Professor Miles(Magee). He is a bit of a weirdo who says that he is a medium. A woman called Jill(Farmer) is wandering around taking pictures of a crypt when she finds a microphone in there. She meets a policeman who warns her not to into the crypt again. A couple are looking for somewhere to have sex. They find a storage room but the cat is around. The couple loses the key to get out of there and the power is cut. They are stuck inside the room. There is no air. The girl's mother,Lillian(Lassander) goes to the police about her daughter who has disappeared. By this time, the couple are dying.
Inspector Gorley(Warbeck) is brought in from Scotland Yard to investigate the case. Jill wanders around town and meets Miles and they talk. He tries to put her in a trance but the black cat intervenes and scratches him. Jill gets away before he can do anything. The cat wants to kill him. A local man meets the cat at night. He throws a stone at it and it follows him into a building and gets stuck on a ledge, the cat scratches his hands and he falls to his death. The inspector needs Jill to take photographs as she is the only photographer in the village. The cops find the dead man and they think that it was just an accident, Jill sees the cat scratches on the man's hands and wonders. Lillian goes to see Miles about her daughter who is still missing. She gives him an object of her daughter's and he concentrates on it. He tells her that she is by the water. The cops go to the boathouse and they find the couple inside, dead.
Miles realises that the cat is to blame for the deaths. Lillian sees the cat before her house goes on fire. She gets burned alive and the cat wanders off. Jill calls Miles and she shows him the pictures of the cat scratches. He agrees that the cat is to blame for the deaths. Miles tells her that the cat can think and he is clever. Miles goes to hang the cat and end its reign of terror. He sees a shadow of it hanging. He almost has an accident. Then he sees that the shadow has disappeared. The inspector wonders what is going on. Jill is going to show him the cat scratch picture but she finds that it has gone. He goes to see Jill and they talk about the cat and Miles. They manage to squeeze in a kiss in between. Miles sees the cat. It has come back!!! The cat follows the inspector and attacks him. It hypnotises him and he stands out in the road and gets hit by a car.
Jill asks the man who hit the inspector what happened. He tells her that Gorley was acting as if he was in a trance. He tells her that there was a cat there. Another inspector arrives in town. Jill visits Miles and he tells her what he did to the cat. Jill wanders around his house and she takes pictures. She hides when she sees Miles coming. He realises what she is going. Jill meets the evil kitty. She uses the flash from her camera to fend it off. It appears, then disappears. This is some cat! It tries to get her, but fails. Miles finds her and he tells her that the cat is to blame for everything. He says that he used the cat as a front for his evil deeds. The cat has become strong and now it is in charge. She runs off and gets attacked by bats. Miles knocks her out and hides her car and clears out her place to make it look as if she has left town. The police are looking for Jill. The new Inspector suspects foul play. Miles is going to wall her in in his basement. Gorley informs the new Inspector about the evil cat. Gorley and the police pay a visit to the dodgy Miles and they asks him about Jill. He tells them that she left. They look around and they hear the cat roaring from the basement. They find Jill. The cat jumps out too. Miles is horrified as the cat is back and has come out on top.
This was a good film. I really enjoyed it. I loved the evil cat angle and it was a good mystery overall. The cast were decent and there were some pretty good scenes in it. Although it is not the best Fulci offering, I found it enjoyable and good fun. There is not loads of gore or anything, but the story is interesting and it is enough to keep you entertained. I have to say that I had not heard anything about this movie before I watched it, but I am glad I did. I had a good time watching and I recommend it as a good horror/mystery. I will give it a 7/10.
A couple are at the beach when they get attacked by something in the water. Cut to a group of people who are going to an island. They bring along another woman called Julie(Farrow). She is going to meet some friends. One of the group called Carol does a tarot reading for another woman called Maggie, who is pregnant. She can't seem to read the cards. When they arrive at the island, Julie can't find her friends. The group go to town and look for people. They look in the local store but there seems to be no people or no phones. The telegraph machine in broken. Maggie is left on the boat alone. The deckhand is killed by something. The group see the boat floating away and they can't reach it. Maggie gets dragged away.
Carol is spooked. She thinks that there is a bad vibe on the island. She tells the others that it will destroy them. They plan to look for Maggie in the morning. They stay in a house which belongs to Julie's pals. Julie wanders around the house when she hears a noise. She and one of the others go down to the cellar when a woman pops up and tries to stab them. It turns out to be the daughter of one of Julie's friends. She is blind. She tells them that the village is afraid. She tells them that she can smell 'him' and that she knows when he is coming. He smells of blood. Carol is jealous of Julie talking her her man, Danny. She sees them kissing and runs off. They search for her. The killer comes to the house and kills Danny. They find an old house that belonged to a man called Klaus Wortman(Eastman) who went missing along with his wife and child. His sister, Ruth is still on the island, but she kills herself as she is mentally unstable. They find Carol. Julie and Carol make peace with each other. They wonder why the woman killed herself. They look at the family pictures and see the family. They find a diary. The men try and find Maggie. One of them, Arnold, discovers the hideout of the killer and he sees Maggie. The killer is Klaus who went insane after killing his wife by mistake. He turned into a cannibal.He kills Arnold, pulls out Maggie's unborn baby and eats it .
Klaus turns up at the house and kills Carol, then the girl. He tries to kill Julie, but she runs away. She manages to knock him into a well, but he gets out. The other member of the group, Andy stabs him in the stomach which causes his insides to spill out. He ends up eating his own intestines. He dies shortly afterwards, leaving Andy and Julie to look on in horror. This movie is not for everyone, I would say. There are some scenes that are pretty gory, but I enjoyed it all the same. I think that this was entertaining and fun but not a brilliant movie. I have to say that it was certainly worth a look and I did enjoy it mostly, but it was middle of the road for me. I am glad that I watched it and I also watched the sequel of sorts, Absurd, which I will review soon. So, overall, I think that this is worth a look for horror fans. It has some scenes that will stay with you. All in all, an entertaining movie which gets a 5/10 from me.
The movie begins with a murder. A woman is killed with a machine that can decapitate people. Cut to a young woman called Aura(Argento) who is standing on a bridge and looks as if she will jump. A man called David(Rydell) tries to help her and he stops her. He takes her for coffee and he asks her about herself. She gets irritated by his questions and runs outside. She is grabbed by two men who want to take her back to some clinic. David finds out where she has gone. Aura is brought back to her mother, Adriana Petrescu(Laurie). Her parents want to send her back to the clinic where she was being treated for anorexia. Aura is locked into her bedroom by her father. A lot of people show up at the house. Adriana is performing a seance. She contacts a spirit who is a victim of the killer. The person knows who the killer is and says that the killer is present. Everyone panics.
Aura sees her parents running off into the night. She climbs out of the window onto the roof. She finds her parents dead. She sees the killer who is holding the heads. A man from the Farraday clinic comes for Aura. David works at a newspaper and he is following the case of the killer who has been nicknamed The Head Hunter. Aura meets David again and they talk. He takes her back to her parents house. They look around the house. Someone is there and they smash his car window and run off. Dr Judd(Forrest) is at the Farraday clinic and he gets a call about Aura. He wants her back in the clinic. Aura is staying with David. She disappears after she has a nightmare about her father's death. David finds her and they kiss. Aura gets taken back to the clinic. Dr Judd talks to her. He wants to give her something to make her remember the killer. He gives it to her and she hallucinates. She gets very upset. They tie her down and drug her. The killer is there. He is looking for her. David shows up and he wants to see Aura.
She manages to escape and David helps her. The killer murders a nurse. Aura and David find keys belonging to the nurse. They open a storage unit where they find photographs of nurses. Some of them are dead. They find an address for one of the nurses who is still alive. They call her and she hangs up on them. They drive to see her. She sees them and flees to a hotel. She gets killed by the killer. David finds her before she dies and she utters the word Lloyd. He goes to the clinic and looks for a Dr. Lloyd. He talks to him and tries to get information, but he has nothing. He gets killed by the mysterious killer also. Dr> Judd attacks David. He gets chases by the cops and ends up crashing his car. He dies. They find severed heads in his car, suggesting that he is the killer.
David returns to his house to find that Anna had left. She leaves a note telling him that she is going to join her mother. He thinks that she has gone into the river. The case seems closed as the police believe that Judd was the killer. David thinks that he sees Aura. He is a mess. He sees her face at a window in a house and he goes inside. There is someone waiting for him. It is the killer. He is attacked. The killer is revealed to be Adrianna, Aura's mother. She faked her own death. She hits him. He wakes up with Aura in a cage. He is chained up. A kid from across the street has her decapitation machine. She goes mad with rage. She finds the kid hiding. The mother has some story about having a baby who was decapitated when he power went out in the hospital and that is why she was angry with the nurses and doctor and that is why she killed them. The kid uses her machine on her and kills her. The movie ends with the police coming and they find out who the killer is. David comforts Aura and they admit that they love each other.
I liked this film. There were plenty of twists and turns but it was interesting and the leads did their job well. I liked the cast and there is a lot to like about this film. It is decent and it kept me guessing until the end. I didn't know much about this when I sat down to watch it and I was pleasantly surprised. This has a good story and a decent amount of gore. Argento does very well here and I really enjoyed it. I am going to give it a 6/10.
Professor George Hacker(Connelly) is in Egypt on holidays with his wife and daughter, Susie(Boccoli). Susie meets a mysterious woman in the desert who hands her an amulet. Her father is blinded when he goes into a forgotten tomb. They return home to New York where George has to try and get through the days being blind. His wife tries to help him, but he is bitter over the whole thing. Susie has the amulet in her bedroom. She has a premonition and she sees the mysterious woman in her dreams. She is scared by the whole thing. She sees a blue light coming from the amulet and she is very scared by it. It comes from Susie's eyes also. She finds that she is able to control her brother, Tommy. She sees him walk through a doorway a disappear into thin air.
George hears something and he comes looking for his children. He finds Daddy Help Me written on the mirror. The blue light goes into the professor's eyes. He can see something. George goes to see his friend, Wiler, and tells him about the tomb and his eyesight returns.Wiler tells him about an ancient god who was evil and cruel. They look through his books and they see the symbol from the tomb. Susie and Tommy are playing a game with their Au pair, Jamie Lee. They are making her nervous. A snake appears. Jamie Lee calls Susie's mother to tell her that is going on. Her mother comes home with her friend, Luke. The children have locked themselves into their bedroom. Luke tries to help to open the door. He tries, but he gets zapped by something and he disappears. There is sand on the floor. The mother sees a scorpion. Jamie Lee sees a vision of the tomb and she screams. The mother looks for Luke. We see that he is in the desert, dead.
George looks at the sand in the room. The mother wants to call the cops but George doesn't. Wiler looks through his books and he finds the symbol from the tomb.Jamie Lee takes a Polaroid photo of the two children. Nothing shows up but the amulet. She throws it away but a woman picks it up and takes it and gives it to the mother with a name Marcato and an address on it too. Wiler discovers that the sand from the room came from Egypt. How can that be? Jamie Lee goes missing. The children say that she is on a voyage. Wiler researches the symbol and he gets bitten by a snake. Susie wakes up from her sleep screaming. She holds a picture of the tomb symbol. George wonders how she got it. George goes to see Marcato. They show him a picture of the symbol. He tells George and his wife that Susie is in danger. George thinks that he is a crazy person. Marcato tells them to ensure that she doesn't have the jewel. They go home and search for it. They find it. George discovers that Wiler has been killed.
Marcato goes to see Susie as she has fainted but he ends up bleeding and choking. He tells George that Susie is a prisoner of the jewel. It is using her for its evil deeds. The jewel can open the gate to space and time. They hold hands and end up in the desert. They have to take Susie to the hospital. The doctors can't figure out what Susie's illness is. Marcato looks into the jewel. Tommy is alone at home when Jamie Lee's dead body comes through the wall. Susie wakes up and blood pours out of her mouth. George goes to see Maracto. He says that now Susie is okay because he has taken the curse from her and put it onto himself. He gives the jewel to George and tells him to get rid of it. Marcato gets killed when his stuffed birds come back to life and peck him to death. The movie ends with George throwing the jewel into the river. We see another girl in Egypt receiving the jewel from the same woman, starting it all up again.
This was an okay movie. I didn't love it, I have to say. I liked parts of it, but on the whole, it wasn't brilliant. It was pretty entertaining, but if you look at some of Fulci's other work, this doesn't even come close to it. I found the movie a little dull in parts and it could be slightly confusing, with a lot of twists and turns. It was worth a look, though and there are some parts that are pretty good such as the bird pecking scene, so if you are a Fulci fan, then you might enjoy this one. I will give it a 5/10.
