Lavalantula Movie Review 367

Lavalantula is a 2015 SyFy original monster movie directed by Mike Mendez and starring Steve Guttenberg,Nia Peeples,Michael Winslow and Marion Ramsey.
    .

So, the story begins in Los Angeles and with faded movie star Colton West(Guttenberg) .He is on the set of a movie but he falls out with the director played by Leigh Whannell. He is on his way home when there is some tremors which he thinks are from an earthquake. What he doesn't know is that the tremors are from volcanoes which are erupting and spewing out hot lava but in the lava are giant mutated spiders who breathe fire and kill everything in their path.Colt wants to get hone to his wife,Olivia (Peeples) and his son Wyatt(Noah Hunt). Wyatt is trapped in a warehouse with his two pals, one of who has been bitten by the spiders and another who was burned on the arm. They are trying to survive. Colt hijacks a sightseeing tour bus full of fans. He tells them what is happening, but they think that it just a movie stunt or something.

Leslie Easterbrook from the Police Academy movies makes a cameo as does Michael Winslow and Marion Ramsey as pals of Colt's from the movie set. There is a great scene where Guttenberg meets Ian Ziering and he asks him for help, but Ziering tells him that he has a shark problem. This is an obvious nod to Ziering's Sharknado movies which are great fun. Cole meets some weird and wacky characters as he tries to get to his family and they battle their way through the giant spiders. They meet a scientist who tells them that there is an underground network of lava tubes just like an insect nest and at the heart of it is the queen spider. She  has to be destroyed to stop the breeding of any more spiders. Colt and his pals have to smoke her out with nitrogen thrown into the tubes and they do smoke her out.

I am not a lover of spiders at all. In fact, I detest them. The queen spider is MASSIVE and it gave me the creeps even though you can see that it isn't real. Colt steps up and faces the queen and manages to throw a bomb into her mouth and blow her up.End of movie. This was really great fun. I really enjoyed it and it is great to see Guttenberg on screen again. I was a fan of him in the 1980's and he does a really good job hamming it up here. It is just a fun movie and you can relax and have a laugh and just enjoy the ride. I would recommend it. It is just pure B movie fun. These movies can come in for some harsh criticism and I say that I have seen some pretty crappy movies in my time and this isn't one of them. I will give it a 7/10 because I really liked it. Bring on the sequel!!!!

Wolf Creek 2 Movie Review 336

Wolf Creek 2 is a 2014 Australian horror directed by Greg McLean(who also directed the first one) and starring John Jarratt and Ryan Corr.

The movie begins with two cops who pull over a truck in the outback. They are being assholes about it but they have no idea who they have messed with. It is only Mick Taylor(Jarratt) and he is not impressed. Needless to say, they meet a sticky end. Mick is patrolling the roads and he comes upon a young German couple as they are camping out in a national park. He tells them that they can't do that and offers them a lift so they won't get into trouble. When they say no, he kills the guy. The girl manages to escape him and runs onto the road. She is picked up by a guy called Paul(Corr). She tells him some of what happened and he drives her away.

Mick follows them and he kills the girl when he shoots at Paul. The rest of the movie is a cat and mouse game between Mick and Paul. When Mick catches him, he tortures him. Paul escapes but Mick catches him again and knocks him out. When Paul wakes up, he is in a town, naked and he has a piece of paper with him which says 'loser', suggesting that Mick has won the game they were playing. We see at the end of the film we are told that Paul is accused of killing tourists in the outback and he has a mental breakdown. He is sent back to the UK and he is in a mental institution. Mick stalks the outback, looking for his next victim.

This is based on a true case of outback murders. I liked the movie as it was good fun and Jarratt was very good as the unhinged Mick. I think that it was a worthy sequel to the first movie and I enjoyed it. There is a scene where Mick asks Paul questions about Australian history which is very good! All in all, this is a decent horror which you could watch even if you haven't seen Wolf Creek. If you have not seen the first one, watch it now, it is well worth it. I'm giving this one a 7/10.

Insidious: Chapter 2 Movie Review 310

Insidious: Chapter 2 is a horror movie and a sequel to Insidious(2011). It is directed by James Wan(Saw) and it stars Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson.

If you have seen the first movie, then this will just follow on from that. Young Josh Lambert is with his mother, Elise(Lin Shaye) and her medium friend Carl. He has been haunted by an old woman and Elise has been called in to help by Carl. There is something horrible in the house and Elise and his mother decide to hypnotise him and make him forget all about it. Cut to adult Josh(Wilson) and his wife Renai(Byrne). They are being questioned by the cops about the death of Elise in their house. The family decide to move in with Josh's mother, Lorraine(Barbara Hershey). Renai is wary of Josh after the events of the first movie. She starts to see things in the house and becomes sure that something is after them again. Lorraine visits two co workers of Elise's to see what can be done. They are Specs(Leigh Whannell) and Tucker(Angus Sampson). Carl is there and he tries to contact Elise with his special dice. They are given a clue by the dice which leads them a hospital where Lorraine used to work.

She tells them about a guy called Parker Crane who killed himself in the hospital. They might have contacted him instead of Elise. They go to the guys house and find stuff about old killings made by The Bride in Black. They think that he was the killer. They see that Elise was not speaking to them at all. It was this guy Parker's mother. Meanwhile, Josh is still acting strangely. Lorraine wants the family to get out of the house. Carl, Specs and Tucker are with her and they are going to get Josh and drug him as they think that he is possessed by Parker Crane. Josh is too clever for them and he gets away. He tries to kill Renai but is stopped by his son. Elise shows up to help. The real Josh has been caught in a place called The Further and his son Dalton has to go and rescue him....Can they make it???You will have to watch the movie to find out...

I liked this film. It was a good follow on from the first one which I also liked. It was entertaining and good fun.  Watch out for the writer of the movie Leigh Whannell as Specs. Sequels can be dodgy sometimes, but this one is well worth a watch. It is on a par with the first movie so if you liked that, you will enjoy this.  I don't understand why it got such negative reviews. Good solid horror here and some decent scares. I will give it an 8/10.

The Conjuring Movie Review 302

The Conjuring is a 2013 horror movie directed by James Wan(Saw franchise,Insidious) and starring Lili Taylor, Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson and Ron Livingston. It is based on actual events.

The story revolves around a couple called Ed and Lorraine Warren(Wilson and Farmiga who investigate the paranormal and they are called in by a family who are being haunted. Carolyn (Taylor) and her husband Roger(Livingston) move into a house with their five daughters in 1971. They think that the house will be a new start for them. Things start to go wrong immediately. Their dog dies and Carolyn notices that she is bruised. There are noises in the house and one of the daughters sees someone who attacks her.One of the daughters has an imaginary friend who talks to her.It becomes obvious that something is very wrong in this house and the family are at their wits end. They find out about a ghost hunting couple called Ed and Lorraine Warren and Carolyn approaches them and asks them to come and see if there is anything they can do.

Ed and Lorraine come to the house and realise that there is something very evil in the house. They agree to try and get evidence of it and see if they can help the family. They need to get evidence of the ghost before they can go to the Catholic Church for an exorcism. They stay in the house and set up equipment to catch the ghosts. They discover that the house was once owned by a witch who was very evil and that she put a curse on anyone who takes her land. Carolyn is possessed by the witch and she tries to attack her own daughter and kill her. Ed and Lorraine have to perform their own exorcism and try and save Carolyn from the demon.

This was a very good movie and I really liked it. It is old school horror and it bears more than a passing resemblance to The Amityville Horror. It reminded me of that movie what with the family moving into a new house and the daughter having an invisible friend. It is spooky and there were some great scares. I love these kinds of movies when they are made well and this is. I liked the story and the acting was good. There was very little I could complain about here. I highly recommend this. If you are looking for gore and brainless fun, then this is not for you. If, like me, you are delighted when you find a horror movie that you can actually enjoy without reaching for the fast forward button, watch this. You won't be disappointed! I am giving this a 9/10.

Man of Steel Movie Review 295

Man of Steel is a 2013 action movie directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Michael Shannon.

The story of Superman is known to everyone, so there is no point going into too much detail about how he came about. Krypton is a planet which is going to be destroyed as it has used up all of its natural resources and cannot survive. Jor-El(Crowe) and his wife Lara have just had a baby boy and he is the first natural birth on the planet in years. They fear for his safety so they send their so, Kal-El to Earth so he has a chance. They give him a genetic codex of the Krypton race and let him go. A baddie called General Zod(Shannon) and his crew are out to cause havoc and he kills Jor-El. He gets caught and he is put in a prison called the Phantom Zone to cool off! Krpyton is finally destroyed when the planet explodes and Zod and he crew are released.

Kal-El lands in Kansas where he finds a family. You know the story. He is called Clark Kent(Cavill) and he wanders the earth working in crappy jobs. A reporter called Lois Lane(Adams) is in the Arctic doing a story on a government discovery of an alien ship. It turns out that it from Krypton and Clark wanders aboard it and meets a hologram of Jor-El. He tells him where he came from etc. Lane comes aboard and she sees all of this and he rescues her when she gets into trouble. She writes a story about it for the Daily Planet but her editor rejects it. She finds out who this superman is but she keeps his secret which is handy. I didn't like the fact that Lois finds out who Superman is so early in the film. It didn't seem right to me.

Anyway, Clark embraces his superhuman side and becomes Superman. Zod arrives on Earth and threatens to kill everyone unless Superman comes with him. He does so. They are seeking the codex but Superman won't give it to them. Little do they know that it is in him and they fight to get it. The rest of the movie has awesome fights and special effects. I suppose that the old Superman movies can't compare in this way, but I have to say that I liked Christopher Reeve as Superman. Cavill does a decent job and he looks strong etc. Adams was likeable as Lois Lane. Shannon was very good as Zod. He is a good baddie and I liked him in this film. The movie ends with Clark starting work at the Daily Planet and of course, Lois already knows who he is, but will keep his secret. Hmmm. Not sure about that, but all in all, it was enjoyable.Lots of fighting and great special effects. I give it a 7/10.

Iron Man 3 Movie Review 291

Iron Man 3 is a 2013 action movie directed by Shane Black and starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Guy Pearce.

Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man (Downey Jr.)is at a party in 1999 with a friend Maya Hansen(Rebecca Hall)  and he meets a guy called Aldrich Killian(Pearce) who is a scientist with a limp. He wants Tony to join his company, but Stark rejects his idea and embarrasses him. Cut to present day and Stark is experiencing panic attacks after what happened in The Avengers movie. A guy called The Mandarin(Ben Kingsley) is making videos and showing his intentions. He starts to plant bombs and he is being sought by the FBI etc. Tony has to overcome his problems to get this guy. He dares him to come to his house and take him on. Stark isn't ready for what happens when The Mandarin does show up and he blows his house to pieces. He manages to escape in an Iron Man suit along with his girlfriend, Pepper Potts(Paltrow). He is believed to have died. Hansen had come up with Extremis, which is a treatment which allows limbs to regenerate. It has been used in some war veterans, but the problem is that it can cause them to explode.

Now comes a really silly plot line. The Mandarin turns out to be a British actor called Trevor and he is just pretending to be the head of a terrorist organisation. The real boss is none other than Killian who has changed since his meeting with Stark in 1999. This seems really silly to me as I was under the impression that The Mandarin was a Chinese villain but these movies are never like the comics. Anyway, Stark has to find Killian. Killian grabs Pepper Potts and subjects her to Extremis. It also turns out that Hansen was working with him but has a change of heart at the last moment but gets killed. Stark and Killian face off. They have a fight but it is Pepper Potts who kills him. In the end, Stark has his chest reactor taken off and he has an operation to remove the shrapnel near his heart.Potts has the Extremis removed so she is fine. Is this the end of Iron Man? I doubt it. He has to come back for the Avengers etc so there will be more movies! There is a post credit scene of Stark talking to Dr. Bruce Banner(Mark Ruffalo) who dozed off as Stark was telling him his tale...

This was much better than Iron Man 2 and there is loads of action here. Downey Jr. is good as Stark and  Pearce was good as the baddie and there was so much happening that you didn't mind the long running time. If you like a good superhero movie, then this is for you! I give it an 8/10.

No One Lives Movie Review 290

No One Lives is a 2013 horror movie directed by Ryuhei Kitamura released by WWE studios and starring Luke Evans, Lee Tergesen and Brodus Clay of WWE fame.

The movie started like a run of the mill horror where a couple are driving along and run into this criminal family who make them crash their car and take them captive. What the family don't know is that the guy(Evans), whose name we never hear, is a total psychopath and he sets out to kill each and every one of the family. Let's start at the beginning. The psycho is with a woman and they are driven off the road by Flynn(Derek Magyar) who is part of this family of criminals. They are led by Hoag(Tergesen) and he is mad at Flynn for just taking them. The couple are with Ethan(Clay) who is a huge guy with a knife. The woman kills herself and then the guy overpowers and kills Ethan. He is a killer and when the gang realise this, they are uneasy.

Flynn looks through the couple's car and finds a young woman in the back. She is a prisoner of the driver and she tells them that he will kill them all. She is from a rich family and they have been looking for her for ages. She was taken captive by the driver and he has been teaching her about his sociopathic ways. There is a huge reward for her return so the gang want to bring her back and get the cash. Problem is, the psycho is outside and he is killing them one by one. He wants his prisoner back and he doesn't care what he has to do to get her. He kills them all and then there is a showdown with his captive. She tries to kill him, but he is too smart for her. He decides to let her go and heads off on his way. She is taken into hospital and that's the end.

Not a bad horror movie. It was entertaining enough and I liked the fact that the psycho was the victim in the beginning. That was interesting and made the movie better. I would recommend this as I found it worth a watch. There is some gore though so be warned..It gets a 5/10.

House at the End of the Street Movie Review 275

House at the End of the Street is a 2012 thriller directed by Mark Tonderai and starring Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Shue.

The movie begins with a young girl killing her parents and running off.Cut to four years later and Sarah(Shue) and her daughter Elissa(Lawrence) are moving into a new house. There is a house across from them and they are curious about it. They discover from the locals that the house is where the young girl called Carrie -Ann killed her parents and went missing four years ago. She had a brother called Ryan(Max Theriot) who wasn't there at the time of the killings. He came back and is now living in the house alone. The locals think that he is a bit weird. The local cop, Weaver(Gil Bellows) chats to Sarah about it and he tells her that Ryan isn't that bad.Elissa meets him and they get along and it isn't long before they begin a relationship much to the disapprovement of Sarah who is wary of Ryan.

It turns out that Ryan is a psycho who has his sister Carrie-Ann chained up in the basement and he is keeping her there so she won't kill anyone. Ryan gets picked out by local youths and he hurts one of them. Elissa finds out about Carrie-Ann and she doesn't know what to think. She discovers that it is not his real sister, but a student that he kidnapped and made into his sister. He realises that he has been caught and he knocks Elissa out and puts her in the basement too. He tells her that Carrie-Ann died when he was very young and he feels guilty about it. He wants her to be the next Carrie-Ann. Sarah is worried about Elissa when she doesn't come home and she suspects that she might be at Ryan's. She calls Weaver and asks him to call over and check. He does so and he hears something. He gets stabbed by Ryan and falls into the basement.

Elissa escapes and locks Ryan into the basement. He has a key and he lets himself out and chases her.
He catches her and puts her into the boot of his car. Sarah comes over looking for Elissa. He stabs her and throws her into the basement with Weaver. Elissa manages to grab Weavers gun and shoots Ryan. He isn't dead and Sarah finishes him off with a hammer. Cut to end of movie, mother and daughter and moving on. We discover that Carrie-Ann was actually Ryan. His parents turned him into their dead daughter and made him live that way and that's why he bumped them off...This film is bad- really bad. It started off okay and then it just went downhill all the way. It was not scary at all. There was very little suspense and the characters were just irritating. Avoid it. I give it 2/10.

Sinister Movie Review 272

Sinister is a 2012 horror movie directed by Scott Derrickson(The Exorcism of Emily Rose) and starring Ethan Hawke and Fred Thompson.

In the beginning of the film, we see a family hanging from a tree with hoods over their heads. They are then hanged by some unseen force. Cut to true crime writer Ellison Oswalt(Hawke), his wife Tracy(Juliet Rylance), daughter Ashley and son Trevor. They are moving into a new house as Ellison is writing a book about a young girl who disappeared after her family were murdered. What he doesn't tell his family is that the house they are moving into is the murdered family's house. Ellison is looking up in the attic when he finds a box of home movies. He hooks them up to a projector and starts to watch. They start normally enough but then he sees families being murdered by someone who is unseen on the camera. He is disturbed by these movies but doesn't take them to the cops. He spots something in each of the movies. There is some sort of demon lurking in the background and there are symbols on the walls.

He becomes obsessed with finding out who this demon is. He starts to hear noises etc in the house and strange things happen with his son. A local cop listens to his story and he gets him some information on the murders. His wife seems oblivious to all these happenings. The murders are all connected and the local cop thinks that it must be a serial killer. Ellison talks to a professor called Jonas(Cameo from Vincent D'Onofrio)who tells him that the symbols are connected to a pagan deity called Bughuul. This thing needs the souls of children to survive. He lures the children in and then he traps them and takes them with him.He took one of the children from each of the murdered families. Has he come for Ellison's children? This is where the film began to dip. I think that it was just too slow in parts and even though I did like the premise, it was poorly executed. Hawke is a good actor and I liked him as the writer, but seeing him walking around in the middle of the night hearing voices in his moth eaten cardigan began to annoy me after a while. There was very little actual scares in this film and it was very easy to predict the end which was disappointing. The actress who played the wife was awful and the kids were irritating.I was very let down by this film. The only reason I stuck with it was Hawke. He did the best he could with the part.

I won't give away the ending just in case you might want to see it, but in my opinion, this just wasn't great. It was just another by the numbers horror movie and it is best forgotten which is a real pity. I have seen low budget movies which are way better than this and I did like this directors other movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose which was way better. I will give it a 4/10. If you have seen Sinister, what did you think of it?

Red Lights Movie Review 271

Red Lights is a 2012 thriller directed by Rodrigo Cortes(Buried) and starring Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver and Robert De Niro. There are spoilers ahead so be warned!

Dr. Margaret Matheson(Weaver) and her assistant Tom Buckley(Murphy) are paranormal investigators who work in a university and go around trying to find out if so called supernatural occurrences are real.A world renowned blind psychic, Simon Silver(De Niro) is making a comeback after he stopped living in the public eye due to the death of one of his fiercest critics years ago at one of his shows. Margaret is reluctant to investigate him as she had a previous experience with him that left her unnerved. She tells Tom that he shouldn't have anything to do with him either. Tom doesn't want to leave it at that. He wants to find out if Silver is a genuine psychic or just another fraud. Helen dies of a mysterious disease and Tom is wondering if Silver had something to do with it. He becomes obsessed with the psychic.

The university where he works invite Silver to participate in tests designed to see if he is a fake. Tom is there and he meets Silver. Strange things happen to Tom such as birds flying into windows and his machines exploding and he wonders if it is Silver trying to get at him. The tests come out clean and it seems as if Silver is the real deal. Tom is sure that he isn't and he tries to come up with something to discredit him. His girlfriend, Sally(Elizabeth Olsen) finds some evidence that Silver is faking it but Tom has already gone to Silver's last show before his retirement. He gets beaten up in the bathroom by some guy who is somehow linked to Silver.

Tom stumbles out of the bathroom and he confronts the psychic who warns him not to mess with him.
It turns out that Silver is not blind after all. He has been able to see hence his success in the tests. Tom exposes him in front of the audience. He is disgraced and when the whole place starts to explode and the lights turn on and off it is apparent that it is not Silver who is the one with powers, it is Tom. Tom realises that he was denying what was in front of him. He had not been ready to embrace his gift. He wishes that he could have told Margaret that there are things that cannot be explained.

This movie was interesting. I liked Murphy in the lead role. He is a very good actor and Irish too! Weaver was good as the doctor and De Niro was great as the weird psychic. All in all, this was a good movie with good acting and the story was very interesting. I would recommend it if you like a decent thriller.
I am giving this a 7/10.

Chained Movie Review 265

Chained is a 2012 thriller/horror written and directed by Jennifer Lynch(yes, daughter of David Lynch) and starring Vincent D'Onofrio and Eamon Farren.

Sarah Fittler(Julia Ormond in a very small role) and her son, Tim(Evan Bird) are spending the day together and they decide to take a taxi home. They soon realise that the driver of the cab has missed their turn and they scream at him, but he ignores them. He drives them out to the middle of nowhere where his house is and he takes the mother away as the kid screams. He comes back later, bloody and he tells the kid that his mother won't be coming back. He tells the kid that he will call him Rabbit and that he will be his servant. He trains him to do everything for him and he has him attached to a chain when he tries to escape. It turns out that the killer is Bob(D'Onofrio) and he is a serial killer. He uses his cab to pick up victims. Rabbit becomes an unwilling participant in cleaning up after the kills.

Cut to years later and Rabbit is older now and played by Eamon Farren. Rabbit is still serving Bob and living on a chain. Bob tells him that he wants him to read up about the human body and learn things.
He wants him to follow in his footsteps and start killing too. Rabbit is not interested. Bob brings back a girl for him to get laid, but Rabbit won't do anything. Bob kills her anyway. He has a high school yearbook and he makes Rabbit choose a girl from that so that he can have his first sexual experience.
Rabbit is amazed when the girl is brought back and he is expected to have sex with her. He doesn't want to. He pretends to kill her and he takes her down to the basement where he tells her to wait until she can escape. Bob finds out and they fight. Rabbit kills Bob and he frees the girl(or does he?). Rabbit goes to visit his father who has since remarried and had another kid. He tells his dad that he knows that Bob was his uncle who took him in when Rabbit's dad paid Bob to kill his wife Sara and son Tim.

It turns out that Tim's dad is a bully too and as he attacks his wife when she tries to intervene between them, Tim kills him. The wife tells him to get out and she will pretend that a burglar broke in and killed her husband.Tim returns to the house where he was kept for so many years and we hear him getting into the cab at the end of the movie. Is he going to become a serial killer like his captor?? This movie was very slow in parts and some of the actions of the kid didn't make sense. He had chance after chance to kill Bob, but he didn't. He could have tried to escape many times, but chose not to. He found a knife on one of the victims, but it was never seen again.I know that he might have been traumatised but it just didn't ring true. The ending was a little silly too. He just killed his dad and the wife covered for him. That just seemed weird to me. The fact that Bob was his uncle was not a huge twist, it was more like a groan. All in all, D'Onofrio was very good in this as he always is in films and he carried this movie. If he hadn't been in it, I would have turned it off. Some good parts, but slow in others, this is getting a 5/10.

Dark Shadows Movie Review 260

Dark Shadows is a 2012 horror/comedy movie based on the 1960's television soap of the same name. It is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green and Helena Bonham Carter.

In the town of Collinsport in Maine in the 1700's, the Collins family have a shipping business which is very successful and the town is named after them. One of them, Barnabas Collins(Depp) has a fling with the maid, Angelique Bouchard(Green) but she falls in love with him. She is a witch. He doesn't feel the same way and he rejects her. In revenge, she causes the death of his parents and his true love, Josette(Bella Heathcote) by causing her to jump off of a cliff . Angelique turns Barnabas into a vampire and places a curse on his family. She gets the locals to grab him and chain him in a coffin and bury him.

Cut to 1972 and a girl called Victoria Winters(Heathcote) is coming to Collinsport to become a governess to one of the Collins family. She meets the matriarch, Elizabeth(Pfeiffer), her brother Roger(Jonny Lee Miller), her daughter Carolyn(Chloe Grace Moretz), the psychiatrist Dr.Julia Hoffman(Carter), Roger's son, David(Gulliver McGrath) and the caretaker of the house,Willie(Jackie Earle Haley). They seem a bit strange. Barnabas finds himself set free when a group of construction workers dig him up on the site. He gets free and enjoys a nice meal of them! He then makes his way to the house to see what has happened while he has been away. He looks around and sees that things are very different now. Everything has changed. He meets Willie when he reaches the house and makes him his servant. Elizabeth meets him and thinks that he is a conman. He assures her that he isn't and leads her to an underground passage where there is so much wealth hidden. They agree to share it between them.

He meets the others in the family and they think that his dress and manner are very weird. He sets eyes on Vicki who looks exactly like his dead fiancee, Josette. Meanwhile, Angelique(Green) is running a hugely successful company which is bankrupting the Collins' business. She wants them to be broke. She owns most of the town now and she will not stop until everything is hers. She learns that Barnabas is back and she is determined to ruin him again. The Collins family set up their business once again and they start becoming successful much to the anger of witch Angelique. She seduces Barnabas and they have sex. She wants to be his partner and his lover but he rejects her. She tells him that she will destroy him and his family. Dr. Hoffman finds out that he is a vampire and she sets up a transfusion so she can try and purify his blood so he can be human again.

Barnabas has a party and Alice Cooper shows up. He and Vicki get closer, but Angelique sees them and she swears revenge. Barnabas finds out that Dr. Hoffman was transferring his blood into her body and trying to be a vampire. He kills her and throws her in the water. Everyone in the family realises that he is a vampire. Angelique threatens him and tells him if he doesn't be her lover, she will put him back into the coffin for another two hundred years. He refuses and she puts him back into the coffin and leaves him. David rescues him and they go back to the house. Angelique tells the townsfolk that Barnabas killed the doctor and others and they come for him. His family come to his defence and try to stop her. There is a huge fight and she wrecks the house. It turns out that she killed David's mother and he calls her from the dead and she injures Angelique.Angelique knows the game is up. She pulls out her heart and gives it to Barnabas and dies. He has to save Vicki who is under a wicked spell by Angelique. She is close to walking off of the same cliff where Josette died. He turns her into a vampire so they can be together forever. Meanwhile, Dr Hoffman is awake underwater and she is a vampire....

This was an entertaining movie. It didn't know if it was a comedy or a horror which was quite confusing and compared to the series, it probably wouldn't stand up. As a stand alone movie, it was good fun and Depp was very good in the lead role. I am giving it a 6/10.
