Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer!!!!

If you enjoyed Paranormal Activity, then you will be eagerly awaiting the sequel. I liked the first movie because it was different and interesting as you don't get to see what was haunting Katie.Whether a sequel will be as effective is debatable, but I am certainly going to watch it and see...Have a look at the trailer and see what you think....

The Walking Dead TV Show Trailer

This is the trailer for the upcoming TV series called The Walking Dead. It is based on the comic books of the same name. It is due out in October in the U.S. and I am not sure when it is going to air over here, but I am sure that it will turn up sooner or later. Watch the trailer and see what you think. It is about time there was a good horror themed tv show not about vampires. A zombie TV show sounds great to me and I will be reviewing it once I watch the pilot! Meanwhile, take a look at the trailer and salivate!!!!

Hell Week Movie Review 147

Okay, the first thing to say about this movie is that it is baaaddd...I have seen some cheap movies in my time, but this one takes the cake. Think Texas Chainsaw Massacre in a warehouse and you have summed up Hell Week.

There is an old abandoned warehouse in which people are being killed. It is near Halloween and some college students are having a party on Hell Week. They want their pledges to go to the abandoned warehouse that is associated with the disappearances of young people. So bascially, this movie is about various college students wandering into the warehouse and meeting a weird family of killers led by some guy in a mask. I think that this film borrows heavily from Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, but the problem is that it isn't entertaining at all. The camera work is amateurish and maybe this was intentional, but I just didn't like it.

It wasn't all bad, though. There were some funny moments and I laughed. Whether the movie is meant to be tongue in cheek I don't know, but I did think that it was hilariously bad in some places. I think that it was bad, but then again, so are a lot of horror movies released these days. I know that it sounds cliche, but they don't make 'em  like they used to. This movie is a classic example of new horror movies which rely on gore and blood spilling and have little plot, acting or suspense. But, if you like that kind of movie, then watch this. Don't let me put you off...It just wasn't for me, that's all. There isn't much more I can say about this except that it was poor. I will be kind and give it a 3/10.

C.H.U.D. Movie Review 146

So what is C.H.U.D?It stands for Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller. That is quite a mouthful...This movie is from 1984 and  it is a cult classic by now..

So, the movie begins with people being dragged into the sewer by some unseen monster. George Cooper(John Heard) is a photographer  who is streetwise and  he knows some of the homeless people who live underground. His girlfriend is Lauren who he lives with. George is trying to take pictures of the most destitute people in the city and he wants to see it all. Enter a cop called Captain Bosch(Christopher Curry) who is investigating  all of the recent missing persons cases and he goes underground to meet  Reverend Shepherd(Daniel Stern). Sherpherd is a bit of a weirdo and he tries to help the homeless people as much as he can. He runs a shelter for them and he feeds them too. Shepherd thinks that there is something strange going on with the sewers and he tells Bosch that he thinks that it is a government cover up. Meanwhile, there are men from the nuclear comission talking about monsters that live down in the sewers. It turns out that they were once human but were contaminated by toxic waste and turned into creatures who kill.

George and Shepherd look through the sewers and they find gear that belonged to the guys from the nuclear comission who had been checking through the sewers a while back. There are no bodies. They realise that the monsters are eating anyone who comes near the sewers and now that they are running low on food, they are coming up to the surface and attacking at will. George, Bosch and Shepherd get trapped down in the sewers and they have to try and survive as the creatures attack.....

This movie was good fun and I can see why it is a cult classic. There is a lot to like about this 80's horror movie. I would highly recommend it for a good watch. This gets 7/10.

Devil Movie Trailer

This movie is based on a story and produced by M.Night Shyamalan and it is about a group of people who get trapped in an elevator and find out that one of them is the Devil. This movie sounds interesting. I am always looking for new movies which can keep me watching without reaching for the fast forward button. I like the story and the trailer looks good. It is coming out soon, so I will have a look at this one. Watch the trailer and see for yourself...

The Last Resort Movie Review 145

The Last Resort is directed by Brandon Nutt.

The story begins with a group of bachelorettes going to Mexico for a wild weekend. They go out drinking and dancing and they meet some guys. One of them heads off with a guy and she doesn't come home that night. The others go off with two dodgy tour guides and end up being robbed in the desert by them. One of the gals gets shot as the robbers take off and leave them stranded in the middle of nowhere. They call the girl who didn't go with them and tell her what happened. She calls the police, but they have no interest. She promises to find them and rescue them. Meanwhile, night is coming and they find an abandoned church and they take shelter in there.

The other girl and her lover search for them. They ask people around if they have seen them, and they happen upon the robbers who left their friends in the desert. They ask them to take them out to where their friends were and the robbers oblige, thinking that they will rob these too. Meanwhile, the other girls are finding out that the building is strange. There are strange sightings there and the girls begin to change. The place is haunted by some weirdo and they realise that people were killed there. Some evil force has taken over the place and they are not going to make it out alive..When their friend and her lover turn up to rescue them, they find something that will horrify them...

This movie was not very good. It was pretty poor and I would not watch it again. The plot was terrible and the acting was awful. There was not much to keep me watching, so it isn't a movie I would recommend. However, have a look at the picture above of America Olivo who stars in this movie and see if you would sit through it!!!This gets a 2/10.

Amanda's Horror Years-1988

I am back with another year and another batch of horror movies. This week, I picked 1988 for no reason, I just picked this year off the top of my head...It is fun looking back and remembering some good movies, some of which I haven't seen in a while. It is a good excuse to dust off those old DVD's and indulge in some horror movie nostalgia!

1988 was a great year for sequels and that is why I am going to lead with them this time. Firstly, there were some old faithful's present. These were Friday the 13th Part 7, Halloween 4 and Nightmare on Elm Street 4!!
Some sequels which were pretty decent.A very good sequel released this year was Hellbound:Hellraiser 2. This was a great movie and it was a great companion to the original.Phantasm 2 made an appearance in this year and the silver balls were still flying around..Poltergeist 3 put the trilogy to bed....Critters 2 provided some comedy along with horror.Howling 4 saw more werewolves running around the place...Fright Night 2 was a good sequel too...Sleepaway Camp 2 returned us to Camp Arawak and there is plenty of fun in this comedy/horror. Return of the Killer Tomatoes was just pure fun and laughs as was Return of the Living Dead Part 2...

Onto more serious movies, American Gothic was a horror movie from this year about a group of young people who happen upon a strange family of weirdos and the killing start..Child's Play was about a doll called Chucky and you know the rest!!!Maniac Cop gave police officers a bad name as he killed first and asked questions later!!!Pin was an interesting thriller/horror and I wrote a review of that here...They Live was directed by John Carpenter and starred the then WWF wrestler, Roddy Piper..That movie was good and it is a cult classic at this stage.Waxwork, Brain Damage and the Lair of the White Worm were more horror flicks. A pretty good made-for-TV horror/thriller was I Saw What You Did and it starred Shawnee Smith.Wes Craven gave us the voodoo horror movie, The Serpent and the Rainbow, starring Bill Pullman. Monkey Shines was about a young man who is paralysed but has a monkey as his helper which seems fine until the monkey develops a mind of its own... And for the last two movies, I have included Watchers starring Corey Haim and The Seventh Sign with Demi Moore..

So, there are some great movies for you to watch or forget about, it's up to you, but there are some good entries this year. It is hard to believe that it was twenty-two years ago now!
