Aunt Harriet finds him and she sets the place on fire. Eleanor saves Tony before he is burned to a crisp. Simon goes in to get the corpse of his brother and he can't get out so he dies as he looks at his dead brother's remains.
This was a very good thriller. I liked the cast, especially Oliver Reed. He was perfect as the horrible Simon. He really made this movie better. The story was good and it was interesting to find out the real story at the end. It is a Hammer movie and the director Freddie Francis is responsible for some fine Hammer horror movies such as The Evil of Frankenstein and Dracula Has Risen from the Grave!! I highly recommend this one as I enjoyed it. I will give it a 7/10.
Boar is a 2017 Australian horror movie directed by Chris Sun and starring Nathan Jones, John Jarratt, Bill Moseley, Roger Ward and Simone Buchanan. A couple are in the outback in Australia. They get attacked by something. It is large and it is nasty. Cut to a family who are travelling in Australia. They are Bruce(Moseley), his wife Debbie(Buchanan), her daughter Ella( Christie-Lee Britten), her son Bart(Griffin Walsh) and Ella's boyfriend, Robert(Hugh Sheridan). They are visiting Bernie(Nathan Jones) who is an uncle. He is a giant of a man and he lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Meanwhile, a local man encounters the boar and suffers a painful death. Two locals called Ken(Jarratt) and Blue(Ward) are out in the bush. They see people camping. They go to investigate and they find that the people have been savagely attacked by some creature. They spot the boar. They have no bullets for the rifle Blue goes back to the car to get them. Ken stays with the people at the camp. The boar shows up and it kills Blue.
A couple are attacked in the woods by the boar. The girl is half alive and Ken finds her. He tries to lead the boar away from her but he ends up getting killed. Bernie takes everyone for a walk. They stay while he leaves to go to the local bar where he meets Sasha(Melissa Tkautz), who is Kens daughter. She is worried because her dad has not made contact with her. She asks him to keep an eye out. He is driving along when his truck is hit by the boar. He wakes up later and he grabs his rifle and knife. Robert and Bruce go to find Bernie. Sasha decides to drive out to the bush to find her dad. Bruce gets killed by the boar. Bernie shoots at it but doesn't kill it. Robert tells the others what is happening. He tells them to run. He is the next victim of the big pig. Bernie finds Deb, Ella and Bart. The boar gets Bart.
Bernie and the boar have a right old scrap. He gets gored by it but he doesn't go down without a fight. Ella and Debbie are left. They light a ring of fire around themselves to keep it back. It is waiting for them. Sasha shows up in her truck and she drives into the big pig. Debbie shoots it also to make sure that it is dead. The movie ends with Bart and Bernie surviving the attack. But, who has also survived???The boar, of course!! You can't keep a wild boar down for long!
I found this film a lot of fun. There are obvious comparisons to the 1984 Aussie pig horror, Razorback but this is more modern. I think that this was made cheaply but it doesn't take away from the film at all. I really found it so enjoyable. The guy Bernie was a highlight of this film. He is such a huge guy and the fight between him and the pig was pure fun. I liked the inclusion of John Jarratt and Roger Ward. They are always good in everything. All in all, this is a fun monster movie. There are some gory scenes, which were good and the ending didn't disappoint either. I recommend this one. I thought it was very entertaining. I will give it a7/10.
The Kiss of the Vampire is a 1963 Hammer horror movie directed by Don Sharp and starring Clifford Evans, Noel Willman, Edward de Souza and Jennifer Daniel. The film begins with someone being buried. A man stakes the body in the coffin. There is a vampire in there. Cut to a newly married couple,Gerald Harcourt(de Souza) and his wife, Marianne(Daniel). Their car has broken down on the road. Gerald leaves to get petrol. Marianne is alone on the road. Someone is watching. Gerald returns and they go to the local hotel. The couple who run it are Bruno(Peter Madden) and his wife Anna(Vera Cook). Bruno is friendly, but Anna is very sullen. They go to their room and receive a letter from a local man called Dr. Ravna(Willman), who wants them to go to his house for dinner. They decide to go and they meet the man himself, along with his daughter Sabena(Jacquie Wallis) and his son, Carl(Barry Warren).
We see the body in the coffin from the beginning of the movie. It has come alive. It is a girl. She is a vampire. She is the daughter of the man who staked her. His name is Professor Zimmer(Evans) and she bites him. He runs home and he cauterises the wound before he gets infected. Gerald and Marianne wonder why Anna is so sad. They discover that she had a daughter. Sabena and Carl come to visit them at the hotel. They invite them to a party at Ravna's house. Zimmer sees this and he warns Marianne to be careful. At the party, something evil is afoot. Carl pretends to be Gerald and he leads Marianne upstairs. He locks her into a room. Ravner is in there. It is revealed that he is a bloodsucker and he bites her.
Sabena puts something into Gerald's drink and he passes out. The next morning, he looks for his wife, but they all deny that she was there. He is confused. They throw him out of the house. He doesn't know what is happening. Professor Zimmer finds him and helps him back to the hotel. Bruno pretends that he doesn't know who Marianne is. There is something weird going on. All of her clothes have gone. Gerald calls the local police, but they don't want to help him because of who Ravna is. Zimmer believes him and he wants to help. He tells him about his daughter and he knows that Ravna was the one who made her into a vampire. He tells Gerald that they will get Marianne back. Gerald breaks into Ravna's house and he finds Annas daughter there. She tricks him and he is caught. He talks to Ravna who tells him that Marianne is his now. He almost gets bitten, but he escapes.
Zimmer shows up and they grab Marianne. They realise that Ravna is going to try and get her back. He calls her and she wanders back to the house. Zimmer performs a ceremony to destroy Ravner and his cronies. He traps them in the house and he does his thing. Bats come from nowhere and they attack all of the vampires, killing them. Marianne is safe and she returns to normal. End of story. This was a fun film. Hammer movies usually are. There was a lot to like about it. The story wasn't that original really, but the cast were good . The ending with the bats attacking everyone was hilarious, I thought, but that didn't take away from the film. It is an early Hammer offering and you can see that it was certainly inspired by Horror of Dracula. All in all, a decent vampire film with a funny ending. I recommend it. I will give it a 6/10.
Blood Diner is a 1987 horror movie directed by Jackie Kong and starring Rick Burks and Carl Crew. The film begins with two kids who are left ancient Sumerian charms by their crazy uncle who is then shot by the cops. Cut to twenty years later and the two kids have grown up. They are Michael(Burks) and George(Crew). They dig up their dead uncle and they take his brain. They perform some sort of rite and they bring him back. His brain and his eyes are kept and he takes control from his jar! He tells the brothers that they need to bring an ancient goddess back to life. Her name is Sheetar and they need to harvest body parts from young women and attach them to make Sheetar appear. The two brothers own a diner so they use this as a front for their dastardly deeds.
Women begin to die. They end up in the diner and they end up being chopped up by the brothers. Michael meets a woman called Connie and he likes her. He hypnotises her and he gives her an amulet. The police are investigating the murders. Michael and George are piecing together their body for Sheetar. They are told that they need a blood buffet for her. The uncle directs them. They go searching for victims. They are looking for trashy ladies. They get a couple and dispose of them in their diner. The cops find an amulet and they take it to an expert. They find out about Sheetar and her cult. They find out that she will need a sacrificial virgin. Michael is working on that. He asks Connie to go out with him.
The cops are getting closer to the brothers. George attacks a girl, but she fights him.She dies anyway but her boyfriend is there. He talks to the cops. He tells them what happened. Connie's father is a policeman and he is on their case. He remembers their uncle and what happened with him. Micheal has Connie and he is going to use her as the sacrificial virgin. Everything gets crazier from here. Sheetar is brought back and she kills people. The cops know it was Michael and George and they want to arrest them. Unfortunately, the brothers have made some weird brew and they give it to people at a nightclub and it turns them into monsters. The cops are there, but they are surrounded by crazy people. They shoot Michael, but George gets eaten by Sheetar who has a massive appetite! The cops manage to get out of the place. The bodies are taken away but Sheetar is not among them. She is on the streets!!
What can I say about this film? It's weird and crazy! There are so many things happening and it just makes you laugh because it is pretty ridiculous. It is fun, though. You don't need to use your brain, just sit back and enjoy it. It is not a great film, but it is funny in parts and the craziness will keep you watching. I liked it and I would recommend it. Just don't expect too much! I will give it a 5/10.
Return of the Living Dead Part 2 is a 1988 horror movie sequel directed by Ken Wiederhorn and starring Michael Kenworthy, Marsha Dielein, Dana Ashbrook and James Karen. The movie begins by telling us about the dangerous toxic liquid, trioxin. It is being destroyed. There is an army truck transporting barrels of the chemical. One of the barrels falls out into the river. A kid called Jesse(Kenworthy) is being chased by kids and he ends up in a tunnel by the river. The kids discover the barrel and they open it. There is a creature inside. Jesse says he is going to call the army about it so the other two lock him inside a mausoleum. Gas from the barrel is released into the graveyard and the air. Three teens are there looking to loot graves. They go to the mausoleum and Jesse is freed. It begins to rain and the rain mixes with the gas. You can see where this is going.. Corpses start to rise.
Jesse goes home and his sister Lucy(Dielein) is there. She is in charge. She tells him to do his homework. A cable repairman called Tom(Ashbrook) arrives and Lucy gets distracted by him. Jesse sneaks out to see his friend Billy who opened the barrel earlier. Billy isn't looking so good. He is sick. The undead begin to surface and Jesse sees them and tarman. He tells his sister about the zombies. He wants to call the army to tell them what has happened. Lucy thinks that he has imagined it and she locks him into his room. He calls the army. The grave robbers meet the zombies and they have to fight them off. They go to Billy's house for help, but his dad warns them off with a shotgun. Jesse talks to a Colonel Glover(Jonathan Terry) but he gets cut off.
The grave robbers come to Lucy and Jesse's house and they tell them what has happened. One of them, Joey, feels ill. The zombies are getting into the house. Tom is attacked. Billy has turned into one of them. He kills his mother. Another of the grave robbers, Ed, is changing into one also. They try and drive to the hospital to get help. They have help from a local doctor. He looks at Joey and he says that something is badly wrong with him. Tom, Jesse and Lucy look around town. It is deserted. They drive to their granddad's house and get his guns. Ed and Joey are turning. They run into army guys, who are on the way after Jesse's call. Ed attacks them and they run away. Joey has turned and he eats his girlfriend, Brenda.
Tom, Jesse and Lucy come up with a plan. Tom gets hold of some animal brains and he makes a trail of them to lead the zombies to the power station. They have a plan to blow them all up. They turn off the power and the zombies arrive at the gates. Tom sets a trap for them. The zombies climb inside and the open the gate. They flood the place. Tom sends Jesse out to drive a truck that they are hiding in. Jesse crashes it into the power station. Billy is after Jesse. Tom and Lucy are stuck inside the truck as Jesse has to get away from him. Jesse manages to turn on the power. The zombies get electrocuted. Billy also gets fried. The army guys finally arrive and Tom and the others are safe.
This was an enjoyable film. It follows on nicely from the first one and I think it is a pretty good sequel. I liked seeing Dana Ashbrook in this. He did a good job. I thought that the story was fun and the ending was decent. All in all, this was an entertaining film and I would certainly recommend it, especially if you enjoyed the first film. I haven't finished watching these movies yet. I haven't seen the fourth film or the fifth so I hope to get around to them soon. This one gets a 5/10.
Night of the Big Heat a.k.a.Island of the Burning Damned is a 1967 sci-fi film directed by Terence Fisher and starring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Patrick Allen, Sarah Lawson and Jane Merrow. The movie begins with a man called Godfrey Hanson(Lee), who is setting up cameras around the island of Fara. There is a weird noise all over the place. The temperature on the island is above every other place in Britain. There is a heatwave in the middle of winter. There is something odd happening. A woman called Angela Roberts(Merrow) comes to the island. She arrives at the local pub and she tells the owner, Frankie(Lawson) that she is going to be the new secretary to a writer called Jeff Callum(Allen). Jeff is the husband of Frankie. Hanson is staying in rooms above the pub. The locals wonder what he is doing up there as he won't let anyone inside. Angela meets Jeff and it is revealed that she is not his secretary. They had an affair and she has followed him to the island. Jeff is not happy that she has come.
There is interference on the phone line and there is no TV signal. A local man's TV explodes. Another man hears the noise and he crashes his car and dies. Jeff asks Hanson what is going on. Hanson tells him that it is aliens. He is a scientist and he has been studying the area. Jeff isn't sure. The heat is getting worse. Jeff and Hanson find the dead body. They figure out that the aliens need heat to survive and that is why they have been heating up the area. They need to get a message to the mainland. The local doctor, Doctor Stone(Cushing) wants to help. He offers to go to the met station and get to the radio. He drives along, but his car stops. He hears the noise and he sees something horrible before he gets killed.
Hanson decides that he will go. He finds Stone's dead body. He realises that the aliens are attracted to light. He tells the locals to turn out the lights. The creatures are at the met station. They have destroyed the radio. Hanson says that they were able to come to Earth using the met equipment. He, Jeff, Frankie and Angela look for explosives. Hanson wants to bring the creatures out into the open. They want the fire to draw them in and attract attention from the mainland. They try to blow up the creatures. Hanson gets attacked and dies. Everything looks bleak until it starts raining. The creatures are destroyed.
This film was enjoyable. The cast were great, of course. That is why I wanted to watch it in the first place. The story is good and it is fun. The ending was a little silly, I thought, but that doesn't take away from the film. The aliens look very primitive but it was 1967 so I can let that go. If you can find this film, I certainly recommend it as it boasts a great cast, including Kenneth Cope!! I will give this a 6/10.
Angst is a 1983 Austrian horror movie directed by Gerald Kargl and starring Erwin Leder. The movie begins with a man(Leder), who is being released from prison. He has killed his mother. He wants to kill someone else but this time, he doesn't want to get caught. He walks around town, into a diner and looks at some local girls but considers it too big a risk to attack them. He gets a taxi and tries to attack the female driver but she throws him out. He ends up running through the woods. He finds a house there. It looks like nobody is home. Of course, he breaks in. He sees a man in a wheelchair. Just then, a car pulls up outside. It seems the owners are coming back. A woman and her daughter enter.
He tackles the daughter first and ties her up. Then he turns his attention to the mother. She fights him and gets away but he catches her and ties her up too. The daughter tries to free herself and the disabled man crawls up the stairs. He gets caught by the killer who drowns him in the bath. He unties the mother and sees that she is not well. The daughter tells him that her mother needs medicine. He makes her get it. He is intent on keeping the mother alive as he has plans for her. He shoves the pills into her mouth. She is dead. The daughter tries to run away, but it is in vain. He stabs her and kills her. He has sex with her corpse. He wanders around outside into the daylight. He discovers their car and he gets the keys. He puts the dead bodies into the car and cleans himself up. He wants more victims. He intends to show them the dead bodies to scare them before he kills them.
He takes their dog with him and he heads into town where he crashes into another car. People start looking at him. He starts to go crazy. He speeds off and he finds family pictures in the car. He drives to a petrol station and he sees the girls he saw earlier in the diner. He goes inside to get food. The police come and look at his car. They want his registration and he has to open the trunk. The movie ends with a doctor saying that the killer had it all planned. He is a sadist but he is not mentally ill.It stems from a bad childhood. He is sentenced to life in prison.
This film is a tough watch at times. It contains quite a lot of violence. It is very bleak also. Saying that, it was interesting and I did enjoy watching it. It had been on my list for quite a while and I am glad that I finally watched it. The killer in this has no redeeming qualities. He is a total psycho and he deserves to rot in prison. The guy who plays him looks kind of weird already, so this makes it easier to believe that he is a sicko. So, this film is a harrowing, realistic experience and I recommend it. Just be warned that it is pretty graphic!I will give it a 5/10.
Terror Train is a 1980 horror movie directed by Roger Spottiswoode and starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Ben Johnson, Hart Bochner and David Copperfield. The movie starts with a group of college students who play a prank on a guy called Kenny. They set him up with a girl but it all goes wrong and he loses his sanity and gets sent to an institution. Three years later, all of the college kids are going to have a New Year's party on a train. These are the same college kids who set up Kenny. One of the group gets killed before he can board the train and replaced by the unknown killer. There is also a magician(Copperfield) on the train with his assistant. A girl called Alana(Curtis) is going on the train but she isn't happy because it reminds her of what happened to Kenny three years ago. She feels guilty about it. The leader of the group is called Doc(Bochner). Alana is dating his friend, Mo(Timothy Webber). The others are Jackson(Anthony Sherwood) and Mitchy(Sandee Currie).
There is a conductor on the train called Carne(Johnson) and he has porters with him, as well and the driver. The killings continue with Jackson meeting his demise in the bathroom. The conductor sees the dead body but when he shows others, the body has been moved. The killer is wandering around in the lizard outfit that Jackson was wearing. The conductor thinks that it was a prank and moves on. The others are murdered by the killer, who is mixing with the party goers. The conductor tells Alana that her friend Mitchy is dead. She doesn't believe him until she sees the dead body. The two of them know that there is a killer on board. The driver goes missing. The conductor has to take everyone off of the train and find the killer. Everyone disembarks while the conductor looks for the killer. There is nobody there. Alana thinks that it is Kenny coming back for revenge.
Then they wonder if the magician could be the killer. They lock him into a train car. Carne goes to have it out with him. The killer comes for Alana. He chases her and he tries to kill her. She manages to stab him. There is a struggle and she tries to push him off the train. He is still hanging on. They think that the killer is dead. Alana goes to lie down after her ordeal. The magician's body is discovered, so it wasn't him. It turns out that the killer was the magician's assistant. It was Kenny dressed up as a woman. He was hiding in plain sight. He is crazy and he wants revenge. He forces Alana to kiss him and he totally loses it. Carne saves the day by pushing him out of the train and into a freezing river, where he meets his death.
This is a fun slasher movie. I think that it is one of the better entries from the 1980's. I liked the premise of the killer on a train. It was original and the cast were pretty good. The movie is what you would expect from a slasher film, but I found it entertaining. I liked it on the whole and I would definitely recommend it for slasher fans and fans of 1980's horror movies. There is an interesting cameo from David Copperfield and of course Jamie Lee Curtis is decent as the lead. I don't hear much about this film when people discuss 1980's horror, but it should be there as it is a good movie. I will give it a 6/10.

When she arrives home, she knows that someone has been in the house. She tells Alan about it. Alan looks around but there is nobody there. Samantha goes to see Leonard and she tells him that the man who is after her is called William Haskin. He was her mother's lover. Samantha's real name is Jean. She was seven when she saw Haskin murder her mother and he went to prison. Leonard tells her that he will find out where Haskin is. Haskin finds Leonard in his car and he kills him. Samantha has a housepkeeper called Mrs. Wallace and she is part of a group called the Psychic Brotherhood. Mrs. Wallace and her daughter, Joy, are attending. She asks Samantha to go too.
Joy is a medium and she has a message for Samantha. It's from Leonard. It says that the killer is in the hall where they are. It scares Samantha. Joy goes to the bus stop to wait and she gets killed by Haskin. Alan is angry when he finds out that Samantha attended the meeting. He thinks that it is rubbish. Samantha finds out that Joy is dead. Beth offers to help her find out where Haskin is. She traces him to a boarding house. Meanwhile, Mrs. Wallace gets killed. Sam finds her body. Beth goes into Haskin's room but he returns. He catches her and he attacks her. She manages to escape. She tells Sam what happened. They go to the police. Sam clears up the blood left from the death of Mrs. Wallace. She goes to get Alan at his place of work. Haskin is there. She tries to run but he corners her. He says that she is the one who should have been in jail. It was her who killed the mother. Haskin says he wanted to frighten her into a confession.
Haskin says that she is the killer. She pushes him off a ledge and he dies. Alan finds her and the police deal with Haskin's body. Everything goes back to normal. A postcard arrives from Mrs. Wallace. Sam becomes jealous of Beth and Alan. Sam and Alan are going on holidays. She packs a knife in her bag. She plans on killing Alan, so she is the one who is the schizo after all....
This was an entertaining thriller/horror. I liked the main cast and the story was interesting. I did see the ending coming but it was still good. There are some creepy moments and there is plenty of blood in this one. It started off like a stalker movie, but it ended up as something quite different. Samantha ends up being the psychopath, but Haskin is one also, so it is hard to feel sorry for either of them. If you enjoy 1970's horror, then this is well worth a watch. I will give it a 6/10.
The Green Inferno is a 2013 horror movie directed by Eli Roth and starring Lorenza Izzo. The movie begins with students in college. A guy called Alejandro (Ariel Levy) and his gal pal Kara want to go over to the Amazon rain forest to stop a logging company from destroying the forest. Justine(Izza) wants to go with them.Going along also are Samantha, Amy, Lars, Daniel and Jonah. They reach the jungle and they make their protest. Guys with guns come out. They are a private army hired by the company. It is streamed live on the Internet. They are all arrested but they get out of it. They are leaving on a small plane when it crashes in the forest. Everyone panics. There are people in the jungle. They get shot with darts. Justine wakes up in a boat with what looks like tribesmen. They are brought to their village. They meet the leader who is a woman.
They are all thrown into cages. The first to die is Jonah who is decapitated and eaten. Alejandro tells the others that his motives were not very pure. He was staging the protest for another company. He doesn't even believe in what he said. The leader takes the women off and tests them to see which ones are virgins. Justine is the only one so she is prepared for a genital mutilation ceremony. Samantha escapes but she doesn't get far. The group eat her flesh, unknowingly. This causes Amy to slash her throat and she dies. Lars is eaten. Justine tries to reach out to one of the children. She and Daniel escape the village but they are soon recaptured. Daniel is left to die and ants are put all over his body. Justine is helped to escape by the child she befriended. She leaves Alejandro to his fate. She manages to escape when a private militia find her and she tells them that she is an American citizen. The group kills some of the tribe. Justine returns home and she tells everyone that the tribe were friendly for some reason and the film ends. There is a mid credits scene where Alejandro is seen in the village and he is painted.
This was a pretty good film. It has certainly been inspired by the likes of Cannibal Holocaust. It is brutal in parts and there is a decent amount of gore. The story is what you would expect. Some do gooders wander into the forest and get themselves in a lot of trouble. They get captured and all sorts of horror ensues. If you like cannibal movies, then this will satisfy you. It isn't the best film by any means, but I found it entertaining. I liked it and I thought that it was interesting. I am not really into cannibal movies, but this was fun overall and I enjoyed it. I will give it a 5/10.

Enid falls foul of the dolls and she gets attacked and shot by the toy soldiers. Ralph and Judy are looking around the house and they visit the storeroom where there are lots of dolls. The dolls want to attack Ralph, but Judy convinces them not to as he is her friend. They are not sure what to do with him. David disocvers Rosemary dead and he thinks that Ralph did it. He is going to kill him. The dolls let Judy and Ralph go. David chases Ralph. Punch attacks him. David begins to destroy the dolls. He kills Punch. Gabriel and Hilary see it and they turn him into a doll as they had magical powers. They let people stay in their house and the good ones can leave but the bad ones are changed into dolls. Ralph and Judy are allowed to leave. The film ends with another family arriving at the house....
I liked this film. The story was interesting and the cast were good too. The dolls were creepy with their beady eyes following everyone! This was produced by Charles Band, who we all know from the Puppetmaster series and it stars Guy Rolfe who played Andre Toulon in those films too!! Overall, this was a lot of fun and I would certainly recommend it to fans of doll movies and 80's horror. I will give it a 6/10.
Dead End is a 2003 French horror movie directed by Jean-Baptiste Andrea and starring Ray Wise, Lin Shaye, Alexandra Holden and Mick Cain. The film begins with a family who are on their way to dinner. Frank (Wise) is driving and when everyone else falls asleep, he does too. He crashes the car. He took a shortcut and they don't really know where they are. Frank is with his wife, Laura(Shaye), his daughter Marion(Holden), her boyfriend, Brad and Marion's brother, Richard(Cain). Frank thinks he saw a woman in the forest. She was dressed in white. She approaches them and she looks injured plus she has a baby in her arms. They offer to give her a lift. They ask her questions about how she got there. She doesn't answer them. They find an old cabin and they look around. There is nobody there.
Brad is left in the car with the girl and she tells him that her baby's name is Amy. She tells him that her baby is dead. Frank hears a scream coming from the car and he runs back. Brad has gone. Marion sees him screaming in the back of a black car which has suddenly appeared. They find Brad's dead body on the road. They want to get out of there. They drive off in search of a road out. Their tyre blows and they have to stop. Marion says that she is pregnant. Richard is smoking pot in the woods. He meets a girl and she kisses him. She hurts his mouth. He gets taken away in the black car. They chase it, but it is too late. They find Richard's dead body on the road. Laura is losing it. She is saying weird things. Frank thinks that the woman in white was a ghost.
They have a gun. Laura grabs it and shoots at Frank. She hits him in the leg. Marion and Frank get away from her. She sees people in the woods. They see the black car and Frank shoots at it. Laura dies. Frank is going to kill himself. Marion stops him. She tells him that they need to drive away. Frank wants to walk through the woods. They find a fence. They think that they have found something but they have been going around in circles. Frank goes mad. He knocks Marion out. The woman in white shows up and Frank follows her. He gets killed. Marion wakes up and there are shadows everywhere. She walks along the road. She meets the woman in white. She tells Marion that she is not here for her. It turns out that there was a car crash. Marion was the only one who survived. Frank fell asleep and he crashed into a woman and her baby. Police show up and a doctor. He tells her what happened. Marion ends up getting a lift in the black car. Was it all real? The film ends with someone finding a note written by Frank at the scene. We are left wondering was it all real or was it part of the dream....
This was a weird film. The story was odd but that isn't a bad thing at all. I watched this because Ray Wise was in it and I always enjoy his performances. The cast were fine in this. The story was unusual and the twist was not unexpected. I figured it out, but the ending leaves you with the idea that it was real after all. It was a decent thriller/horror movie. I enjoyed it and there were some eerie scenes. I recommend this one and I will give it a 6/10.
Summer of '84 is a 2018 horror movie directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell and starring Graham Verchere, Tiera Skovbye and Rich Sommer. A teenager called Davey(Verchere) is helping a neighbour called Mr.Mackey(Sommer) move some furniture. He sees a locked door in his basement. The year is 1984 and there is a serial killer called the Cape May Slayer on the loose. The killer has disposed of thirteen teenagers. Davey and his friends are discussing it. Davey wonders if Mackey has something to hide. His friends think that he is being silly but Davey starts to watch him. A local kid disappears and he realises that they saw him in Mackey's house when he was spying on him. His face is on a milk carton. Davey and his pals talk about what has happened. Mackey is a cop so they will find it hard to prove his guilt. They look through his garbage but find nothing. Dave has a crush on a girl called Nikki(Skovbye) and he tells her what is happening.
They see Mackey buying a pick axe and bags of dirt. Davey plants a walkie talkie outside Mackey's house, hoping to pick up something incriminating but Mackie catches him. They dig up his garden but there is nothing there. Davey looks into his shed and the t shirt of the missing teen is in there. Mackey has chemicals in a storage unit. They think that he uses them to dissolve the bodies. Davey tells his parents. They don't believe him at all. They make him go over to Mackey and tell him everything. Mackey seems to treat it as a joke. He has an answer for everything. Davey's friends don't want to spy on Mackey anymore. Mackey calls to see Davey and he says that he wants to make peace. Davey realises that Mackey has lied to him. A news report says that the serial killer has been caught, but Davey doesn't believe that the guy is the actual killer since Mackey caught him. Mackey is being hailed as a hero.
SPOILER ALERT! Davey wants to break into Mackey's basement for proof that he is the real killer. He takes Nikki and his friend , Woody with him to keep a look out for Mackey. They go down to the basement and there is a dead body in there along with another victim who is not dead yet. They help him to escape. Mackey has photographs of his victims on the wall. There is also a picture of Davey with his family. They go to the police to tell them everything. Mackey disappears. He is hiding in Davey's attic. He comes out at night and he kidnaps Woody and Davey. They are taken to the woods. He chases them. He catches Woody and kills him. He grabs Davey and he tells him that he will come back and he will get him in the future. He leaves Davey there. Someone finds him and helps him. The movie ends with Mackey still on the loose and Davey waiting for him to return and kill him.
This was a fun film. It was like The Goonies, but a much darker version. It starts out as a mystery film, but as time goes on, it gets a bit darker and the ending makes it more like a thriller. The open ending is interesting also. I enjoyed this a lot. It was set in the 1980's which I really liked and the story was quite fun. I enjoyed the nostalgic feel to this and all in all, it was well worth my time. I definitely recommend it if you haven't seen it already. I will give it a 7/10.
