This is the sequel to the smash hit movie, Night At The Museum and it stars Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson and Ricky Gervais.
It is directed by Shawn Levy.We catch up with Larry Daley(Stiller) who was working as a night guard in the Museum of Natural History. He is no longer working at the museum. He has founded Daley Devices, a company which sells his inventions, such as the glow in the dark torch. He goes to the museum to see how his pals are doing, but he finds that they are being moved to the Smithsonian for storage. They are replacing some of the exhibits with holograms. He is horrified as his pals will be stuck in some archive. Larry meets his old friend Teddy Roosevelt(Robin Williams) , Rexy the T-Rex, Dexter the monkey and Jedediah(Wilson). He finds out that the good Pharaoh Ahkmenrah is not going with them and this is bad news as the Pharaoh holds the tablet which brings them all to life. Teddy hasn't told the others as he doesn't want them to be sad.... The next night, Larry gets a call from Jedediah telling him that they are being attacked in the Smithsonian by an evil Pharaoh,Kahmunrah(Hank Azaria) who is Ahkmenrah's brother. He wants the tablet to bring back his evil troops so he can take over..Larry has to go to Washington to save them. He gets as far as the musuem and he manages to grab a guard uniform and he pokes around until he finds his friends. Larry grabs the tablet and tries to help his pals, but the evil Kahmunrah uses his lackeys to grab the tablet from him. He gets help from General Custer, Amelia Earhart(Amy Adams) and Octavius(Steve Coogan). Unfortunately, Kahmurah has help from Al Capone and his gang along with Ivan the Terrible and Napoleon!
A battle takes places between all of the figures and Larry is caught in the middle. Eventually, he manages to get rid of Kahmunrah and banishes him. He is reunited with all of his friends back in the Museum of Natural History after he ditches his company and becomes a guard again. The museum gets a face lift after an anonymous donor gives lots of money to it so all of Larry's pals can stay!Everything is rosy in the end as Larry is back where he belongs and the exhibits are coming to life for everyone to see, but people think that they are worked by machinery.. Only Larry knows the truth.... This had no laugh out loud moments in it. It was amusing, yes, but more of a kids movie. The first movie was much better and this one will entertain you but it won't blow you away. There are some cool special effects in it, but that is about it.
