Just like Amanda's previous post, I can see online they are remaking more movies that you can shake a stick at!! It is with concern that I read they are remaking Recycling the stone..............emmmmmmmmmm i mean Romancing the Stone. The list seems to be never ending! Daniel Mcdermott who cowrote Eagle Eye (which I shall be seeing shortly) is being lined up to write the remake. If you havent seen the original I would suggest you check it out as soon as you can.It looks a bit dated now but is still worth a look!
Then I hear that they are remaking They Live which was a John Carpenter movie that starred Rowdy Roddy Piper who is always fun to watch! They Live is a great little film kind of half comedy half adventure about a guy realising there are aliens among us.Of course you need black glasses to see them which is nice for a film with a low budget!! You can tell its an 80's movie as he is looking over his sunglasses!!
Then they are remaking Arthur that starred Dudley Moore as the irrepressible drunk that charmed us all even me Jigsaw!!!!!!! The remake is going to star Russell Brand who is like cough medicine.Fine in small doses but gets worse the more you endure!!!! I haven't seen Arthur in a long time but I remember Dudley Moore was funny and it even had a sequel!
Then there is the classic The Day the Earth Stood Still. You are probably saying what? never heard of it.But its actually a great movie from 1951 that starred Michael Rennie as Klaatu telling the world that we must live in peace or be destroyed!!! This film and character are referenced in other movies so it still has an influence today. The remake stars none other than Keanu Reeves so we will have to wait and see what it turns out like.
With all these remakes its heard to know how to feel. Are they ruining old movies or revamping them for a new generation? Its probably best to wait and see how they actually turn out.Opinions can differ though.I know Amanda thought the remake of Halloween was poor but I liked it.I was not a huge fan of the original so there you go! Sometimes they can be good but I do think the main thing is changing everything too much is the worst thing they can do.Once they keep the basic idea its ok to do something slightly different but going off on a total reimagineing of the premise is bad! What do you think? Please Comment if you dare!!!!

If they're not remaking movies, they're making movies of TV shows, VideoGames, Books and Comics, or just sequels to movies. It's been a while since there's been a good original movie idea.
Oh and I have a pair of those glasses that Riddy Piper uses in They Live, and they work. I'll sell to you for €200 - no refunds!
