Dawn of The Dead(Original) Movie Review 107

Dawn of The Dead was released in 1978 and it was directed by George A. Romero who also directed Night of The Living Dead which I have reviewed here. This is the second movie in the series and this movie is streets ahead of the remake. It was produced by Claudio Argento, brother of horror genius Dario Argento. There is also music in it from Dario Argento's band, Goblin. It stars David Emge, Ken Foree,Scott H Reiniger and Gaylen Ross.

The action begins in a world where a plague has broken out and infected a huge majority of human beings who are then turned into meat-seeking zombies who have no mind, just a hunger for flesh. Stephen(Emge) and Francine(Ross) work at a television station and they are planning to fly away from all of the horror in a helicopter. The movie cuts to a guy called Roger(Scott H Reiniger) who is a part of a SWAT team and he meets Peter(Foree) and they decide to get away from the zombies and escape to somewhere new. They meet Francine and Stephen and they go to a deserted shopping mall to get away. They lock themselves in and they try and find some food and supplies as they fight their way through the endless zombies.

They get guns and bullets and they also treat themselves to stuff from all of the stores in the mall. They have a little area upstairs which they make their base. We find out that Francine is pregnant and the team wonder what they are going to do with her. She tells them that she doesn't want to be treated any differently. She wants to leave the shopping mall and go somewhere else but the others want to stay in the mall as they have everything that they need. They stay there for some time but Roger gets bitten and he has to be killed by Peter as he comes back to life as a zombie. Stephen also gets bitten and he has to be put down. Francine and Peter decide that they need to escape, but Peter decides that he will stay and fight only to change his mind at the last minute and join Francine in the helicopter as she flies away...

This was a very entertaining movie and I liked it a lot. I would watch it again and I am going to watch and review the last movie in the series, Day of the Dead soon....This gets an 8/10 .
