Halloween Party Movie Review

Halloween Party is a 2019 horror movie directed by Jay Dahl and starring Amy Groening, T. Thomason and Shelley Thompson.

A couple of college girls called Zoe and Grace(Groening) are chatting when a Halloween meme comes up on Zoe's computer. It asks people to type in their greatest fear or run out of time. Grace types out her greatest fear, which just happens to be vagina spiders. Zoe is afraid of pigs. She types in pig people. That night, Zoe is working when she is attacked by a pig person. She dies. Grace is very upset by her friend's death. Three weeks later, Grace sees a picture of a person with a pig mask at the crime scene. She goes to the computer science lab at the college and she looks for a guy called Spencer(Thomason) and she shows him the picture of the mask. She tells him about the Halloween meme that is being passed around. She shows it to him and he tells her that that it is complicated. He goes to look at Zoe's computer. Grace finds that Zoe's room has been rifled through. Spencer gives her a motion sensor for Zoe's room so she can find out who is going into Zoe's room.

The meme makes it way around the college. It seems that the meme causes death for those who enter their worst fear. Spencer finds out that the meme sends itself to other email addresses. Spencer finds a demonic rune hidden in it. They also see shadows in the meme. Grace thinks that the strange things that are happening are coming from Zoe's closet. She and Spencer look at the floor and they find that it has been bricked up. They go to the library to find out about the house. They discover that the dorm house was built on the site of a home for children. There were disfigured children there. They were called balloon babies. They see a doctor on a video that they find. They visit his wife, Dr. Barbara Macail(Thompson). They talk to her about the babies. She tells the, that they turned nasty when they got older. There were five left and they were bricked up to keep them away from people. They talk to the doctor himself and when he sees the picture of the shadows from the meme, he goes crazy.

Barbara gives Grace a talisman for luck. Spencer deletes the meme from his phone. He is going to delete it from his computer but his computer pals open it and it gets passed on. Spencer's name comes up and he runs out of time. He knows that he is doomed to be the next victim. The five children who were buried under the floor and causing the deaths. They have to go to where the hospital was underneath the house and unblock the children. Grace and Spencer find out that the children want to be free. They go to Zoe's room but Spencer gets caught and killed. Grace frees the kids from their prison. She goes back to see Barbara and tells her what happened. Barbara is horrified. She tells Grace that they were bricked up for a reason. The film ends with Grace being on a plane and the meme showing up. Everyone's fears start coming to life including Grace's.

This was entertaining. There was nothing amazing about it but I found that I enjoyed it. I liked the idea of a Halloween meme causing deaths but I wasn't too crazy about the children and all that. That made the story a bit too silly. It is worth a look if you are stuck for something to watch on Halloween. You could do a lot worse than this one. I will give it a 5/10.
