Lost Season 5 Episode 4 Recap

Well,Lost has been on again and I hope you have been watching faithfully like I have been! This episode was number 4 and was called "The Little Prince".What did you think of it? Perplexed? Can't follow it? Love it? Missed the episode entirely? In the video above we have the promo for the episode and this is another good one folks! Well then, here we go with my recap/discussion of Lost so as always leave a comment if you have any thoughts about it!

Lost begins with the by now usual look back at the previous episode. So if you want to know about that one then click here! Remember Locke was told the Oceanic 6 must return to the island and Charlotte collapsed bleeding! We go to a flashback of Kate and Jack talking on the boat before they are officially found and 'rescued' and Kate is worried about Aaron who is Claire's baby. How will they explain him? Kate says that Claire was on her way to give him up for adoption and she thinks that they should say that Kate is his mother. She is clearly attached to Aaron and is upset about everyone else that they either left behind or that died.Jack appeals to Kate to lie with him and try to get the others to agree to lie also.He asks is she with him and she says that she has always been with him so it is a touching moment.

Then we go to 3 years later than that scene where Kate is with Sun and Aaron who obviously is now older than a baby.Sun asks Kate is she sure she wants to do something and Kate says yes as it was Sun's idea.Kate leaves and promises to be back soon as she leaves Aaron in Sun's care.Obviously she is off to do whatever she is nervous about.Sun then gets a package delivery of a big envelope with files and pictures of Ben and Locke when they were leaving the funeral home.In the package also is a nice box of chocolates which is always nice to get don't you agree?!!! Although under the first layer of chocolates is not a second layer! In this box of chocolates there is a handgun!!!!!! Then the title card comes up like here with that eerie music!!!

We go back to Charlotte with the rest of Locke and Faraday's group and they are concerned about what has happened to her.Sawyer thinks Faraday knows but isn't saying.Juliet sends Sawyer over to Jack and Faraday admits he thought it might happen. He says the flashes throw the body clock off and is like really bad jet lag. When Juliet asks why is it not happening to everyone else Faraday says he does not know but thank god it is not! Now we go back to Kate as she is in a downtown office meeting with the lawyer that wanted blood samples from Aaron. He will not say who he represents but Kate offers him a deal. She will give him the blood samples if she can meet whoever he represents. The Lawyer says he will ask but he knows the client will not agree as he has a court order compelling her to prove she is Aaron's mother. His client though wants the exchange of custody to go quietly. When she asks what exchange he says she knows what he means. He says to Kate that she will definitely lose the boy! The Lawyer looked very familiar and I was trying to remember what I saw him in before. Then Amanda told me it was the TV series My So Called Life.Yes she is right of course and his name is Tom Irwin. That series was very short lived and had Claire Danes in it and was very good! Surely you liked it too!!!

Anyway we go back to Locke and Sawyer talking and Locke says that they have to go back to the Orchid as the flashes all started when they were there. The Orchid was the greenhouse area if you are not sure what he meant.Locke says that they should use the zodiac raft on the beach and cut around the horn as it is a long way to walk.He says that he is not exactly sure what to do there but as Ben used it to get off the island, Locke could do the same thing and bring the Oceanic 6 back and the people who blew up on the boat!! Charlotte then wakes up and is a bit dizzy but she is OK.Sawyer agrees with Locke that they need to go to the Orchid. We cut to Jack and Sayid in the hospital where Sayid is waking up after the tranquilisers.Jack gets called out of the room by a doctor who says that Jack should not be there as he was suspended.Hurley then rings him from LA County lockup and says Ben cannot get him there and he is safe!! Then he hangs up just as Ben walks into the hospital and meets Jack.Back in the room with Sayid, a doctor or male nurse walks into the room and says he has meds for Sayid.Sayid smells a rat and gets out of the way just as this impostor fires yet more tranquilisers at him!! A fight ensues and Sayid gets the upper hand choking him and asks who is is working for.The impostor says the address is in his pocket and then Sayid tranquilises him. When Jack and Ben come into the room Jack realises that it is Kate's address!!

He rings Kate to see if she is OK and she is staking out the lawyer to see where he goes. She tells Jack where she is and Jack arranges to meet her there. As Sayid does not trust Ben, he goes with Ben as he tries to get Hurley out. They all arrange to meet up later at the marina where everyone seems to meet in TV shows!! Must be very busy there! Back with Locke and Sawyer's group they see a light shining up into the sky.Locke realises what it is but just demands all to keep moving.Do you know what the light is? Well, It is the light from the first series when Locke was banging on the hatch demanding a sign and the light shone up from the hatch.Remember Desmond was down the hatch and turned on the light so we know that Locke and Sawyer's group have now travelled to that time period. Then they all hear a woman screaming and Sawyer goes alone to investigate. He sees Kate helping Claire give birth to Aaron and he looks at Kate realising how much he misses her. Then there is a big flash as they all time travel again and Locke asks Sawyer what he saw.Sawyer says it doesn't matter as it is gone now!!

We cut back to Kate as Jack arrives to meet her just as the Lawyer leaves. They set off in pursuit of him as we cut back to Locke and Sawyer's group. They both now realise what time they were just in and Sawyer says why didn't Locke just go to himself in that earlier time to save him all the trouble.Locke says he needed it to get to where he is now.Miles then admits to Faraday that he has had a nosebleed too just as they all arrive back on the beach where the camp was. There is no one there and the Zodiac is gone. There are 2 long canoes on the beach so they decide to use one of them to go to the Orchid. As they are paddling along they suddenly are getting shot at by a group in the other canoe! As they paddle everything flashes as they time travel again. Now they are at night where it is lashing rain!!

Jack and Kate follow the Lawyer as he meets a woman who is revealed to be Claire's mother!! Jack goes to speak to her but realises that she knows nothing about Aaron and just wants her settlement from Oceanic for the death of Claire. Then Ben and Sayid pull into a car park where they meet the Lawyer who says there is no case against Hurley and that he should be free the next morning.Ben says to Sayid that the Lawyer is his lawyer!! We go back to Locke and Sawyer's group as they pull their canoe up on a beach and relax after the paddling that they did.Sawyer talks to Juliet about seeing Kate and Claire but Juliet now has a nosebleed! Charlotte spots wreckage on the beach and it has french writing on it.She says that it probably just happened. We go to a scene where french people are talking in a lifeboat and they see a body floating on a piece of wood. They pull him into their lifeboat and he is revealed to be Jin!!!

Now we go to the Marina where everyone in movies and TV meets! Kate pulls up in her car with Jack and asks him why he called her that specific day.Jack produces the note that Sayid found on the impostor with her address on it and explains how he got it.Then Ben and Sayid arrive and Kate is very scared when she sees Ben.Jack tries to assure her Ben is there to help and that everyone needs to be together.Kate accuses Ben of trying to take Aaron away but Jack says no he is not. Then Ben says yes he is!!!!!! He is trying to get Aaron as he is not Kate's son so he knows Kate is not his mother.Looking on at all them talking is Sun in a car with Aaron but no one has seen her there. She gets out of the car as she grabs the gun that was sent to her.

We cut back to Jin with the French people and it is now daytime and has stopped raining. They ask where Jin came from but he is unsure how he got there.A woman gives him a drink of water and asks Jin his name.He tells her it is Jin and she says hers is Danielle Rousseau as the credits roll! She is the Frenchwoman who said she came with scientists and when Jin meets her she is young so we know they are all now far back in time!! Did you like this episode? Tell me what you thought of it!!!!!

Hells Kitchen Season 5- Episode 2 Recap

I'm back with another exciting episode of Hells Kitchen. This week, there was plenty of back-stabbing, bitchiness and laughable moments with the cooks who are oh-so-clearly out of their depth! Gordon Ramsay is back for some screaming, swearing and shouting!

The day begins with loud drums at 5.49 AM and the cooks have a rude awakening. They have to go through two crates full of water and other things to find scallops . They all complain of the smell and Colleen(that fool!) falls in(hee hee!!!). They have a challenge to see who can take the most scallops from their shell. The boys win by a narrow margin and they are treated to a day out with Chef.(WATCH THE CLIP) But, Robert, who is a large guy has to go by ferry instead of by helicopter because he is too heavy. I felt sorry for him because he was being singled out and the other guys had a great time with Chef while he was still on the ferry by himself. The girls have to prepare seafood for that night and Lacey runs up to her room sobbing and takes to her bed. She won't come down and she lets the rest of the the team do her share of the work too which makes them very angry.
She finally decides to come down after a nice lie in. She seems to be a lazy person and I think that her heart isn't in it. Some of the others are a little bossy, though and I don't like that either. I don't like Colleen or Lacey or Andrea- she is fierce bossy and I don't think that that will help in the team.

Meanwhile, Ji hurts her ankle and she can't walk on it but she decides to brave the service anyway. She is a good worker and she doesn't complain either which is a good quality in a person. The others, though are so busy whining at each other that they make up for it. Paula and Robert are operating the raw bar and they serve up seafood to the customers. Service begins and Carol is the first one to get shouted at. Her risotto is stuck to the pan! Andrea is still thinking that she owns the place and she is so irritating. I hate domineering people! In the men's kitchen, Charlie is in trouble for making a terrible risotto. He tells Chef that he has never made one before and Ben has to step in and show him how. Robert is doing very well at the raw bar. Colleen gets in trouble because she can't cook a scallop properly and she has to be shown how by Lacey. Chef tells her that he doesn't know how she can teach anyone to cook! It's so funny because she thinks that she is great, but she ain't a cook! She is messing up all of the time. Charlie is still messing up and this time he forgets to put lobster in the lobster spaghetti! Very funny! Colleen is in trouble AGAIN as she forgets one dish and serves up a raw salmon! Giovanni makes the same mistake and gets yelled at!

The men and women have a challenge to see who finishes their service first and the men win leaving the women to choose two people who deserve to go. Lacey is nominated and so is Colleen. I was really hoping that Colleen would go but then Ji tells Chef that she cannot continue and so Lacey and Colleen were spared and Ji went. She tried her best to work through the pain, but she couldn't. She was a good contestant. The others are miffed that she had to go and they still hate Lacey. That should ensure some fun next week as the bitchiness continues!

Hells Kitchen Season 5- Episode 1 Recap

Well, what can I saw about this show? I love it. I love seeing the
supposed 'cooks'(some of them aren't real cooks!) shouted at by Gordon Ramsay. I like him because he tells it like it is and he doesn't take any crap. I love seeing him shouting at some red-faced contestant and making them look like a fool. Oh, it's such fun when you can watch it happening to someone else! Last year's winner was Christina and I did NOT like her at all. This year, there are some new people who have annoyed Chef Ramsay ALREADY!

The first episode beings with the confident chefs making their signature dish for Chef(WATCH THE CLIP ABOVE). It isn't long before he puts them in their places! This is where the fun begins. The first person up is Carol and he likes her food. But, for some of the others he is not so nice. Up comes Colleen who just teaches food to chefs but she has no cooking qualifications herself to teach anyone! That is stupid! She gets annoyed with him when he doesn't like her food and I can see a big personality clash! I don't like her already so I think that she isn't going to last very long in this series. He calls her food crap and I had to agree from looking at it! He doesn't like Seth either who he later calls Forrest(after Forrest Gump!).

They agree on team names- Blues Brothers for the guys and the gals are Team Saffron. They begin to prep for the dinner and Lacey walks off and says she is quitting after getting frustrated. The others are not happy with her, especially as they have to work twice as hard. In the men's kitchen, Seth is annoying everyone as he keeps asking where stuff is. He wanders around the kitchen looking lost and he can't seem to do anything right. Chef makes everyone line up and he tells them that one person from each team has to be a waiter/waitress so from the gals, it's Carol and from the men it's Giovanni.

Meanwhile, in the girl's kitchen, Lacey is under attack from Coi who is annoyed at her because she left earlier on. It comes to a head and Chef has to intervene to calm her down. Giovanni is taking orders from customers and he is mixing everything up and he doesn't know what some of the dishes are(cringe!). He is messing it all up and Chef ain't pleased. Carol, on the other hand, is doing very well and she is keeping her cool under pressure. Colleen is adding to Chef's recipes and he catches her out. Suddenly, the power goes- I think that that was done deliberately to see how they can cope under pressure. The chefs hold it together and they manage to work as a team. Danny and Chef have a disagreement, but it blows over. Colleen is pulled over by Chef AGAIN(I love it!) for cooking a new spaghetti in a dirty pan. Meanwhile, Wil is messing it all up and he is getting roared at by Chef! I love when someone starts to annoy Ramsay as he never lets up on them! The funniest thing was when he pulled Colleen over yet again for putting sugar in her risotto instead of salt. What the hell is she doing in a kitchen if she makes a basic mistake like that? I think that she is an idiot and I am hoping that she will go soon.

Seth is on the bad side of the chef when his lamb is cooked terribly and Chef starts calling him Forrest because he is so stupid! Wil is in big trouble as he can't hold it together and begins to mess it all up. I don't think that he is able for it and he has a meltdown. The end of service comes and the men's team loses. They choose Wil and Seth for elimination. In the end, it comes down to who did worse and Wil is eliminated. I think that it was a good choice because he really lost it and he wasn't good enough. I will be back next week with episode 2 of Hell's Kitchen. I can't wait to see who is next for the chop!!!!

Friday the 13th(1980)

Forget about the remake, this is the original and the only Friday the 13th. This is where it all began. This movie is directed by Sean S. Cunningham and it is a horror classic. This paved the way for many slasher films along with Halloween(1978). It should not be disregarded because it was cheaply made. This movie is a real treat for horror fans.

It begins in 1958 with two summer camp counsellors at Camp Crystal Lake who sneak away for a bit of nooky and end up getting killed by an unseen person. The film shifts to Friday the 13th in the present day and a girl, Annie(Robbi Morgan) goes into a restaurant and asks for directions to Camp Crystal Lake. The people in the restaurant are surprised and an old man, Ralph(Walt Gorney) warns her that everyone who goes there is doomed. Annie gets a lift from a trucker and she is told the story of a young boy who drowned in Camp Crystal Lake before the original murders happened. Annie gets another lift from an unknown person in a jeep and she runs away from the person but is ultimately murdered.

Meanwhile, at the camp, the counsellors are showing up. There is Ned(Mark Nelson), Jack(A young Kevin Bacon), Bill(Harry Crosby),Marcy(Jeannine Taylor), Brenda(Laurie Bartram), Alice(Adrienne King) and the owner of the place, Steve(Peter Brouwer). They are setting up the place and Steve leaves to get more supplies as a storm is coming. People start to turn up dead as the killer is around the camp and is picking them off one by one. When Steve comes back, he is killed too, but he seems to recognise his killer. The lights turn on outside and Bill and Alice go to see what's going on. They return to find a bloody axe in Brenda's bed. Of course, the phone is dead and their car won't start. The killer cuts the lights and Bill goes to find the generator. Poor Bill is pinned to the door by arrows by the killer and he is found by Alice who is alone now. Brenda's body is thrown through the window and she panics.

She hears a car outside and she thinks that Steve is back unaware that he is dead. It is Mrs. Voorhees(Betsy Palmer) who says she is a friend of Steve's. Alice spills the beans about what has been happening and she tells her that everyone else is dead. Mrs. Voorhees seems shocked at the sight of the bodies, but then it comes out that she is the mother of the boy, Jason, who drowned in Crystal Lake all of those years ago. She holds the counsellors who were messing around at the time responsible for his death as they didn't save him. She begins to turn nasty.
It turns out that she is the one responsible for the deaths in the camp and that she has no intention of stopping any time soon. She lunges at Alice with a knife and Alice has to run away from her.It turns into a game of hide and seek and Alice tries to get away from the maniacal mother with a machete. She finally gets the better of her and decapitates her with her own weapon. She gets into a canoe and she floats to the middle of Crystal Lake. She is suddenly attacked by the rotten corpse of Jason and dragged under water. Then, she wakes up and finds that she is having a nightmare after being pulled out of the lake by the cops. She is in hospital and they tell her that everyone else is dead, but that they didn't find any boy in the lake. Alice shudders as she imagines that he is still out there, waiting for his next victim....

This movie is one of my all-time faves for obvious reasons. I love slasher movies and this is one of the best. It is eerie and creepy and, while it is cheaply made, it is very well- done. I will give this one a 9/10.
This is a real classic horror movie and it is a must for anyone who loves a good slasher flick. I have seen the trailer for the remake and I ain't impressed!

28 Days Later(2002)

This a good film directed by Danny Boyle who directed Trainspotting and The Beach. It was eagerly awaited before it's release as it is a zombie/horror movie but it is set in England. There is also a sequel, 28 Weeks Later, which I will review in a future post.

The movie begins with British animal rights activists breaking into a lab where chimpanzees are being used for medical research. There is a scientist there who warns them that the chimps are infected with something that causes rage. They don't take any heed and one is freed, infecting the activists and the scientist.
28 days later, a man called Jim(Cillian Murphy) awakes from a coma, naked, in the hospital. There is nobody else around and he wonders what has happened to everyone. He goes outside and is chased by the infected people until he is rescued by two survivors, Selena(Naomi Harris) and Mark(Noah Huntley). They tell him about the virus and that people began killing while he was in a coma and that now there are people running around looking for blood.

He goes to his parents house to find that they committed suicide. That night, they are attacked and Mark is infected. Selena kills him as he will turn into a zombie. They roam the streets hoping to find other survivors. They find a man called Frank(Brendan Gleeson) and his daughter Hannah(Megan Burns). They are living in a deserted block of flats. They don't know if they should stay with the new survivors or move on. Frank tells them that their supplies are very low and that there is a message on the radio from soldiers in Manchester who have a cure. They decide to travel together and go to Manchester for safety. As they near the place, Frank is infected and he is shot by the soldiers. The soldiers are not what they seem. They meet Major West(Christopher Eccleston) who is crazy. The plan is to wait for the infected to starve to death and to use females as sexual slaves so that the population will replenish itself. Jim, Hannah and Selena try and escape, but they are caught by Sergeant Farrell(Stuart McQuarrie) and others who do not like the thought of West's plan. They are imprisoned again and the next morning, Jim escapes over a wall . He sees the smoke from a jet and he realises that there must still be people living and functioning. He diverts the soldiers attention and he unleashes one of the infected on the remaining soldiers. He grabs Selena and Hannah and they get into a car when Jim is shot by Major West.

They find a hospital and Selena saves his life.
28 days later, he awakes again, but this time he is in a cottage. He gets up and finds Selena and Hannah making a banner. They bring it outside and lay it in the field where they have spelled out HELLO in the grass. They see a military jet approaching and as it passes them, they wonder if they have been seen this time. This movie is all action and great horror. I will give this one a 7/10.

Arachnophobia (1990)

I love this horror/comedy film directed by Frank Marshall and produced by Steven Spielberg. If you have a morbid fear of spiders(like I do) you will find this movie very hard to watch in parts. I could watch all of the blood and guts and gore in the world, but when it comes to looking at a huge killer spider, it gives me goosebumps and I have to look away.

The story begins in the rain forest with a entomologist(someone who studies insects) called Dr.James Atherton(Julian Sands) and a group of scientists looking for new species of insects. They find a new species of spider and they capture it and keep it for research. They have a photographer with them, Jerry Manley(Mark L. Taylor) and he sees the size of the spider that they have found. It is called a 'soldier' and they wonder how big the 'general' is in comparison. Jerry goes to lie down in his tent and he is bitten by the 'general' and he dies. It is assumed that he has died of a fever. He is brought back to America in a box along with the 'general'.

Jerry's body comes to his home town of Canaima,California. The general sneaks out of the box and roams around until it comes to the house of Dr. Ross Jennings(Jeff Daniels). Ross has just moved to the little town from San Fransico with his wife, Molly(Harley Jane Kozak) and their kids. Dr Jennings is supposed to take over from the old Dr. Metcalf(Henry Jones) but the old doctor changes his mind at the last minute and Ross has to set up his own practice. Meanwhile, the general is mating with a common domestic spider and it sets up a web in Dr Jennings barn. Ross has a fear of spiders and he won't go near the barn.
People start to die around the town after being bitten by the offspring of the spider. Ross gets the blame as the people were seeing him before they died. The old doctor is killed by a spider and Ross beings to wonder if there are deadly spiders infesting the little town. More and more people begin to die from spider bites. Dr.Atherton is called in to see what he can do, along with eccentric exterminator, Delbert McClintock(John Goodman). Dr. Atherton is killed after finding the web in the barn. Then, the Jennings discover a nest in their basement and they try to escape the house, but the spiders are beginning to take over the house. They are everywhere but Mrs. Jennings and the kids get out leaving Ross in the house . He falls into the basement and he comes face to face with the Queen who he kills. He faces his fear of spiders and he thinks that he is safe, but he is cornered by the general who is harder to kill. He does kill it and destroy the eggs. The film ends with the Jennings living in San Franciso. They are thinking about their lucky escape when they feel an earthquake coming and they check on the kids.

This is great family fun but it is good for anyone who likes creepy movies. If you hate spiders and find that even the little ones are scary, then this film will petrify you. I like it because it is funny but scary at the same time. Maybe it is not as scary as some horror movies, but it is a great watch. I will give it 9/10.

A Nightmare on Elm Street(1984)

There must be nobody on this planet who has not heard of this movie. Freddy Krueger is one of the most celebrated horror baddies and he is the symbol of fear for many people. This movie was directed by Wes Craven and this was when he was at his best. There were so many sequels that I can't remember them all, but the original is the best.
A young girl, Tina(Amanda Wyss) is having nightmares about a man with razors attached to his hand. He is chasing her through a dark boiler room. He is just about to catch her when she wakes up screaming. She is relieved that it is a dream only to see four razor cuts in her nightdress. She finds out that her friend, Nancy(Heather Langenkamp) has had the same dream. Nancy and her boyfriend Glen(A very young Johnny Depp) sleep over at her house to make her feel better, but then Tina's boyfriend, Rod(Nick Corri) crashes the party and sleeps with Tina in her mother's bed. They fall asleep and Tina has the dream again, except that the killer catches her this time and Rod wakens to see her being cut open by invisible knives. As he was with her at the time, the police arrest him for her murder.
Nancy is having the nightmares too and she goes to see Rod in prison to ask him about what happened that night. He tells her about the invisible knives and she thinks that it is the guy in her dreams that killed Tina. Nancy and Glen go to the police station to see Rob again but he is dead, supposedly having committed suicide. Nancy's mother, Marge(Ronee Blakley) takes Nancy to a dream clinic so that she can sort out her sleep problem. She nods off and this time she gets cut in her sleep and she brings back a hat with her from her dream. Marge is horrified and it becomes clear that she is hiding something. She tells Nancy that the hat belongs to a killer called Freddy Krueger(Robert Englund) who murdered lots of kids years earlier. It comes out that furious parents burned him alive in his boiler room hideout when he was released from prison on a technicality. He is coming to the children of those parents in their dreams so that he can get bloody revenge on them. Nancy's mother produces his glove to prove that he can't hurt anyone.Nancy and Glen try and come up with a plan to get Freddy but Glen nods off and he is killed by Freddy. Nancy is terrified when Freddy comes into the real world and after her. She had set booby traps earlier to catch him and she sets him alight and leaves him in the basement as she gets her dad who is a cop to come and get him. But he has escaped and they find him smothering Marge with his burning body. This makes Nancy send her dad away and she tries to face him down on her own, sapping him of his horrible powers. The next scene is morning time and it is revealed that it was all just a dream. That's great, isn't it? Everyone is still alive and well. That is, until Nancy realises that she is still in a dream and that Freddy is in her car, taking her somewhere...She screams for her mother who is at the front door only to see her pulled back through the door by a clawed hand.....

This a cult classic and I think that it is one of those movies nearly everyone has seen. It is great fun and I like it a lot. I heard that there might be a remake, but as usual, that means nothing to the original which I am going to watch yet again. I give this movie a 9/10.

What Just Happened Movie Review 21

What Just Happened is a movie starring Robert De Niro who we all love as an actor, well I love him anyway!! He plays a hollywood producer trying to hold everything together as he is going through a divorce. He is desperately trying to get his movie finished and wrapped up so he has to sit through the test screenings and hope they go well.Any changes to be made he has to ensure they get done even if the director does not want them.So you can see it is a wheeling and dealing type of movie as he has to try to keep all around him happy. We can tell straight away that De Niro's character is having trouble with his career and that he is on the down slope trying to hang on.
This movie is written by Art Linson and is based on his own book about his experiences of being a producer in hollywood.I knew nothing of this movie before I saw it and did not even see a trailer or know the story.I did see the end of a review on TV where the reviewer said De Niro was back on form in this.I was not aware that he was off form as I think he is nearly always good. This film is directed by Barry Levinson who executive produced one of my favourite shows OZ.On that note I am watching the whole collection of OZ at the moment and I am on season 5 now.I recently discussed OZ here if you like that show too.

So going into this movie I had high hopes and I only knew it was a comedy.
If you see the above trailer you would think this could be a great movie as it seems good.It all starts very well where we are at a screening of Fiercely,Ben's new movie.Ben is the producer and is played by De Niro and he waits anxiously in the audience.Sean Penn is the lead of Fiercely which is the movie within What Just Happened.Hope you are following this! Penn's character helps his girlfriend or wife escape (its not made clear what exactly the relationship is but we can guess) The only thing is he gets caught by the bad guys and is promptly shot dead.He rolls down an embankment and lies there dead. His dog comes over and licks his face and just when we expect the credits to roll, the bad guys blow the dog's head off!!! Ughh....yes it is as bad as it sounds and naturally people in the test screening are disgusted with it and it is only now the credits roll.Naturally this ending bombs and this is where Ben has to try to sort it out to keep everyone happy.

From that note at the start of the movie things go downhill from there. He goes to the director to get it changed and he has an english accent that reminded me of the guy in Dawson's Creek when Dawson goes to hollywood.Do you remember that guy who is the maverick english director who has time for nobody? It is the same here.Wait a minute........Yes........It is true........Dawson's Creek WAS a great show and yes I liked it!! Dawson should have kicked Pacey's rearend for stealing Joey away!!!!! OK, if you did not watch that show then forget the last few sentences!!!
The rest of the movie felt like a hollywood injoke where Ben originally only let the director put that end in to get other violence in the movie past the eye of the studio.Bruce Willis pops up in another injoke where he has a thick beard that he refuses to shave off and Ben is told by the studio to get him to shave it.Of course Willis plays himself in this as a cranky, spoilt actor who refuses to do what the network wants.I was thinking at this time that the movie is like a train headed for that well known station called Cliche Central and what happens? Yes, it is the main character having marriage problems!! It was not just a train going to Cliche Central, the whole movie is at Cliche Central!! They always put that story into nearly every movie these days.Do you remember hearing that loud noise recently? It was me as you heard me groan very loudly as this was revealed!!!!!!!! As you can tell I did not like this movie and do NOT recommend this to anyone unless you are a masochist and enjoy pain!! I have noticed some people like to know everything that happens in a movie so if you do not want to know then skip the next paragraph but just know this movie is very boring and I give it a 2/10 as I like Robert De Niro! If you really want to know what happens then read on here.I am giving you warnings if you do not like spoilers!!!!!
The director of Fiercely relents and the movie end is changed to the dog just licking Penn's face.Ben realises that his wife is having an affair with a screenwriter so things are getting worse for him.Ben tries to get Bruce Willis's agent to get Bruce to shave his beard but the agent only ends up being fired! Thankfully though Bruce shaves his beard and the movie can now go ahead as the studio are happy. At the Cannes film festival everyone is enjoying the movie but when it comes to the end, the director has done a third edit where Penn and the dog still get shot but this time there is complete overkill with a hail of bullets going into ther bodies!!! The movie ends with a photoshoot for Vanity Fair of all the top producers and Ben suffers the indignity of being pushed way out to the outside of the shot.So really he is nearly out of hollywood but is just hanging on to his position.

For a comedy I did not laugh at all and found the whole thing a big injoke. If you know the inner workings of hollywood or even care about them then you might like this.It felt very similar to that old movie starring Tim Robbins called The Player.I know this is meant to be a satire too but I found nothing funny.Other than the dog getting shot in the head there was not much else in this so I would not want to see this movie again. The 2 out of ten is because I like Robert De Niro and not much else!!!!! The only good thing about this movie was Moon Bloodgood which is a very strange but memorable name and while she is only in it for a few minutes you can tell from her pic here that she will get your attention!!!!!!! If you were basing it on her then this would get (10/10)!!!!!!!! What Just Happened (2/10)

The Office Season 5 Episode 13 Recap/Discussion

In the video above is the absolutely brilliant pre-opening credits scene from The Office Season 5 Episode 13 called "Stress Relief".The highly planned fired drills that were practiced go out the window when Dwight sets up a small fire and does not tell the rest of the office that it is not real!! Absolute pandemonium as it is every man or woman for himself! The cameras get run over in the chaos,Oscar climbs up into the ceiling,Angela takes out her cat that is hidden in a drawer,Michael smashes a window with a chair,Kevin loots the canteen snacks after smashing it open and Jim and Andy try to use the photocopier to smash open a door!!! Oscar falls through the ceiling getting stuck halfway and Dwight lights firecrackers!! Andy shouts "The fire is shooting at us" before Dwight admits it was all just a drill.Oscar drops down from above and Stanley then collapses with a heart attack as they all try to help him.

This opening scene was one of the funniest ever and will go down as a classic! Next time you do a fire drill just think of this and what can really happen! The Office is a show that seems to get better and better with each episode and this episode proves it.If you have not seen it yet then try to catch it soon as it is very funny.Michael and Dwight get called to main office where Michael ingeniously turns the tables and acts like a head manager giving Dwight a small penalty instead of firing him!! When Stanley gets back from the hospital Michael decides to have a CPR class as "he knew exactly what to do but in a much more real sense he had no idea what to do" That is a very funny line from a boss in denial!!! When they do the CPR class they cannot pump the dummies chest in proper time but when told to pump to the tune of the BeeGee's song Staying Alive an impromptu sing song begins! Each singing badly and it is hilarious! As in theory the dummy has died, Dwight carves it up looking for the heart to give to an organ donor and then carves off the face of the dummy putting it on his face! Obviously a reference to Silence of the Lambs!!

Then the story branches off to Pam,Jim and Andy watching illegally downloaded movies on a laptop! The movie they are watching is a movie that is starring Jack Black and Jessica Alba in a very funny Cameo!! Pam's parents are having marriage problems and Jim tries to help.Dwight has to get everyone in the office to sign his letter of regret due to his actions with the dummy and fire drill!! Michael tries relaxation techniques with the entire office to help Stanley relax but really his techniques are just him talking quietly with a candle!! Stanley's beeping blood pressure monitor reveals that Michael is his source of stress and when Oscar wears the monitor Michael stresses him out too.Basically Michael is stressing everyone out!!!!

Due to this Michael decides to hold a roast in honour of himself so everyone can say what they want to Michael! Of course everyone gets up and makes fun of him and it all gets out of hand! Andy rounds it off with a song on his guitar about what he hates about Michael.Michael as usual did not expect all the hate and staggers out the door! He does not show up to work the next day and some people think he may be dead! He is not dead and cameras reveal him to be at a children's playground throwing out bread! He thinks he is in a park!! Dwight fools Phyllis into signing for a package and she was the last signature that he needed on his letter of regret so he is happy! Andy is then shown crying at the end of the movie that has a very funny scene with Jack Black!!! Then Pam says to Jim that her dad is leaving her mother due to Jim saying he loves Pam so much and that her father does not have that type of love with Pam's mother.

Michael arrives back at the office with little roasts of everyone written down.He runs through them all and Stanley begins to laugh with all the put downs. Then everyone laughs at the jokes so Michael's goal of stress relief is achieved and all is well in the office again! The end scene of Jack Black's very old lover cheating on him was brilliant too! This show has got to be one of the best comedies on TV at the moment and yet again this was a great episode. From the fire drill to the CPR scenes and to the roast, it was all very funny. This episode lasted 41 Min's and I think was a special Superbowl episode as it normally would not be that long.Another hilarious episode! What did you think of it????

Four Flies On Grey Velvet(1971)

This obscure movie is one of Dario Argento's earliest and it is much less gory than his later horror movies. It is different from his other movies but in some ways it is very similar. There is an unknown killer who is never seen until the end, which is something that he has in a lot of his movies. There are some creepy scenes and as always, there is great suspense in it.

The movie begins with a man called Roberto(Michael Brandon) who is a drummer in a band. He is playing with his band when he notices a man with dark glasses staring in at him. He becomes angry and chases after this man to see what he wants. He follows the man to an abandoned theatre and he confronts him about what he is doing. The man denies everything and pulls a switchblade on Roberto. Roberto struggles with the man and stabs him by mistake. He is horrified by what he has done and he runs off in terror as he realises that someone wearing a puppet mask has been watching him and has taken pictures of Roberto holding the knife.

Roberto returns home and he is plagued by guilt by what he has done. He receives a letter the next day with the dead man's i.d. in it and he realises that he is in trouble with the person who saw what he did. His wife Nina(Mimsy Farmer)wonders what has happened as he is having nightmares of being decapitated and Roberto tells her the story. She is worried and scared as they receive more threats. Roberto goes to see a friend of his called Godfrey(Bud Spencer) and his pal tells him to hire a private eye to see who is sending the letters and who is getting into his house. Unfortunately, Roberto doesn't do this. The maid(Marisa Fabbri) has overheard Roberto and Nina talking about what has happened and she calls an unknown person to get money from them, but she ends up dead. Also, the man who was 'killed' by Roberto is actually alive and well. He is meeting with the unknown person when he his killed for real this time.
Nina is called by the police to identify the maid and she decides that she has to leave for a while and stay with relatives. Roberto hires a private investigator, Gianni Arrosio(Jean-Pierre Marielle) who looks into his background and into people who might want to drive him insane with this blackmail ploy. He stumbles upon something juicy when he is killed by injection in a train station. Roberto is at his house with Nina's cousin, Maria(Laura Troschel) who runs a bath for him and massages his shoulders. It turns out that she fancies him and they have sex. She is at home one day when she hears a noise and she goes to investigate. The killer is waiting and Maria is killed too. The cops try an experiment whereby they test her eye to find the last image on it before death. There are four flies reflected on Maria's eye. They don't know what it means.
When Roberto finds out about Maria, he knows that it is only a matter of time before he is next. He gets a gun and he waits for the killer to come and get him. When his wife comes in, he is surprised and he sees that she is wearing a chain with four flies in the pendant and he eventually realises that it was her all along. She grabs the gun.She has gone crazy and she wants to kill him. She shoots him in the shoulder and the leg before his pal Godfrey turns up and gets the gun from her. She escapes in her car but she manages to crash and get her head cut off, hence the nightmares Roberto had been having. This is where the movie ends. I like this movie. It is a good solid thriller and there is plenty of action to keep you watching. I will give this a 7/10.

Cujo (1983)

'Now There's A New Name For Terror' and his name is Cujo! He is a gigantic St.Bernard dog and he is vicious! This movie is based on the novel by a favourite of mine, Stephen King.

This movie begins with a young boy called Brett Camber(Billy Jayne)whose only companion is a St. Bernard dog called Cujo. They are the best of friends and Cujo is a lovable dog. Brett's mother and father, Joe, don't get on very well and he spends most of his time with the dog. His mother decides to take him away for a holiday. Unfortunately, Cujo gets bitten by a rabid bat and contracts rabies. This is the beginning of the terror. Joe's neighbour is killed by the rabid dog and before he can get help, he is killed too.

Meanwhile, Donna Trenton(Dee Wallace)and Vic Trenton(Daniel Hugh Kelly) have problems of their own. She has been caught having an affair and they argue. Vic has to leave and go on a business trip, leaving Donna and her son, Tad(Danny Pintauro) on their own. As Joe was a mechanic, Donna takes her car to his farm for repairs but she can't find him anywhere. The car won't start and they see Cujo coming towards them. Instead of the usually friendly dog is a monster who wants to attack them. They flee into the car and this begins a siege which lasts for days.

Tad and Donna are trapped in the heat inside the car and Tad gets very ill. Donna tries to escape but the dog won't let her. The sheriff comes to help them, but Cujo kills him too. Vic calls Donna and he is very worried when she doesn't answer the phone so he comes home and tracks them down to the farm where they are trapped in the car. He tries to help them. Donna eventually kills Cujo with a baseball bat and they escape. In the book, Tad dies, but in the movie, he survives after his mother gives him CPR.

I love this movie as it is full of suspense and horror as the dog begins to deteriorate. It is a good story and I like the fact that the dog is the killer. It's a twist on the usual killer- stalks-victims story. I will give this film a 9/10.

Splinter(2008)

This movie is a new one and an entertaining one at that. There is plenty of suspense and plenty of gore for any horror fan. I think that some of the low budget films can be better than the ones that you see in the cinema. They can be more fun and there are some good scares in this one!

T
his film begins with a pump attendant going outside to sit down and relax when he is attacked by some rabid animal who leaps at him. We see that the attendant's body is being attacked by an infection as he contorts and bleeds. We cut to a couple,Seth(Paulo Costanzo) and Polly(Jill Wagner)who are driving along as they look for a place to set up their tent for the night in Oklahoma. Unfortunately for them, their tent is ripped and they decide to go to a motel, but in a really stupid move, they stop for a girl who waves at them from the road. Her boyfriend jumps out and they carjack the poor couple. They hit some animal with spikes and their car breaks down.Polly drives into the gas station where the first attack happened.

They enter the gas station and find that there is no one around. The male carjacker, Dennis(Shea Whigham) stays with Polly while Seth and the female carjacker, Lacey(Rachel Kerbs) are outside. Lacey is a drug addict and she is hallucinating. She sees the deformed body of the attendant and she is very upset. She is attacked and killed by the creature. The others take refuge inside the gas station. They see Lacey beginning to reanimate and Dennis thinks that she is still alive. He finds out that she has turned into some horrible creature with spikes and a taste for human blood. Seth, who is studying biology, is fascinated by it and he wonders what it is and how it reanimates. A policewoman shows up and she tells the couple that they are safe. She sees Dennis with them and she tells him to come out with his hands up. They try to warn her about the creatures but it is too late and she is attacked by one.

Seth has a plan to get her radio from outside and call for help, but all that happens is that he pulls the radio with a wire from inside, but he also pulls in a hand with it. The hand is alive and they have to hide in the fridges to get away from it. Seth figures out that it doesn't like the cold so he hatches a plan to make himself as cold as possible so that he can get to the cop car and call for help. Meanwhile, Dennis is infected by a cut he received earlier on from a spike and they have to amputate his arm to get rid of the infection. Seth sneaks out to the car while Dennis and Polly distract it with fireworks, but it is too clever and it heads over to Seth who can't call for help because he has no keys for the car. Dennis distracts it while Seth runs . Polly and Dennis hide in a freezer while the creature wreaks havoc in the gas station.

Meanwhile, the fireworks ignite lighter fluid and the place starts to burn. Seth gets a gun and he rescues Polly and Dennis from the station. Dennis tells them that he will take care of the creature while they go. He shoots at it, but he realises that its too late and he is attacked. He kills the creature, but now he knows that it's only a matter of time before he is going to change into a spiky creature, so he tells Polly and Seth to go and he shoots at a propane tank, killing himself and causing a huge explosion. Seth and Polly head off into the sunset, unaware that there are more infected corpses in the woods, just waiting to change...
Amanda's Verdict:

I liked this film as it was entertaining, fun and full of thrills. There was lots happening and there was plenty of great killing scenes. The creatures themselves were cool and everything was well done. There was a good story and I really enjoyed it. I will give it an 8/10.
Jigsaw's Verdict:

This movie is another one that you hear nothing about but turns out to be quite good! It is not really anything that you haven't seen before but it does everything well. The splinters coming out of the infected body or corpse are genuinely creepy and Jill Wagner(pictured here) is very nice to look at and you will be hoping no splinters go into her lovely body!!!!!!!! Check this movie out if you are a horror fan!!!! This movie deserves 7/10.
